Yep if Watkins and Stephenson are rookies which is what they'll be if pickedHow many spots do we have open? Enough for 49, Watkins, and Stephenson?

Carlton merrily trading out picks 9 and 11 for points to match an early bid on Harry Dean. Not too worried about two top 10ish picks in this draft and this should bring in pick 49 more if we hold onto it.
You can do the rough math: but those Carlton picks (21, 27, 30) become 20, 25 and 28 after GCs picks are chewed.
Addy, can we put a line through Ah Chee, as Richo ahh and umm about it and avoided answering the question on Thursday?I do think we're a pretty good chance now to take one pick in national draft. Wasn't that confident at the end of the trade period but we've shown healthy interest in a couple which makes me think we aren't fully committed to trading 49 out

I think Richo was inconclusive about it because he genuinely didn't know what our list management's decision was on that. As far as I'm concerned, I don't see a world where we pay Ah Chee 1.4m in the first year that Crows are offering and frankly, I don't see the point of it either. You'd do it if he was the last piece of the puzzle but he isn't. There's lots of other things we need to get right first and Ah Chee won't be making a significant difference to it imo in the next year.Addy, can we put a line through Ah Chee, as Richo ahh and umm about it and avoided answering the question on Thursday?
I was completely unaware GWS cut Jake Stringer.
Ok so salary cap manipulation and flexibility at the draft. Got it.They cut him and Conor Stone but recommitted to drafting both as rookies I believe
I assume we are taking one pick. If we trade pick 49 we just take a slightly later pick in the draft.I do think we're a pretty good chance now to take one pick in national draft. If we don't take a pick in the National Draft or Pre-season draft we will be one list space down. This can't be covered by an extra rookie as category A rookie maximum on a list is 6. We currently have 4 rookies which leaves a maximum of only two rookies to fill our three list spaces.I assume we are taking one pick. I could be wrong but SSP selections are allowed to tak a senior spot if needed? So we could take 2 in the rookie draft (1 being Watkins) and the SSP could be senior spot? I'm not as confident on this rule tbhIf we don't take a pick in the National Draft or Pre-season draft we will be one list space down. I am not sure if we can elevate another rookie post the drafts to get another rookie spot via the supplemental selection period.
Its time AFL closed down this loophole.Ok so salary cap manipulation and flexibility at the draft. Got it.
Its time AFL closed down this loophole.
And it's also time for clubs to call out each other's bluff and take players in PSD without player consent. The only way this get solved is if players start kicking up a fuss of going through the pressure of getting to their respective clubs via PSD
I get what you're coming from. But the rookie list wasn't designed to be used this way. It was designed to, like other mechanisms, grow the game by giving untried players a chance. Not give the likes of seasoned players an avenue to extend their careers.I think clubs would take them if they rated them enough. I just think of the rookie list as the last list spots. Change the name to supplementary list and then no one would mind.
I could get behind draft Balyn O'Brien or Max Kondogiannis. But if Oudshoorn-Bennier and Peucker are still available and we pass I'd be disappointed. Those 2 + Kickett have been my top 3 preference for a while now at Pick 49.From Fox Footy Draft Intel:
Port Adelaide has been transparent around its strategy to not have a significant say in the 2025 draft. But rivals expect the Power to draft at least one player this week, with the club doing lots of late work on prospects.
The Power have been strongly linked to Liam Hetherton — an agile and competitive 198cm forward from the Murray Bushrangers — while lockdown Norwood defender Balyn O’Brien is another player the club has shown interest in.
Other players, according to sources, in Port’s mix include:
— Oakleigh Chargers defender Max Kondogiannis, who’s also been linked to Geelong, Richmond, West Coast, Essendon, Sydney and Collingwood —
— GWV Rebels small forward/midfielder Tayor Byrne, who also has interest from Hawthorn, Carlton, Fremantle, Brisbane and Richmond, and
— Geelong VFL small forward Tobyn Murray, who’s reportedly toured the Blues’ facilities as well.
