Nothing draft - we might take a one longshot but that's it.Should I be following this draft or is it a nothing draft since we traded out our 1st?
Or just call it a Supplementary listI get what you're coming from. But the rookie list wasn't designed to be used this way. It was designed to, like other mechanisms, grow the game by giving untried players a chance. Not give the likes of seasoned players an avenue to extend their careers.
If they want that, they should create a veterans spot
You'd be hard pressed to find a more desperate, dogged defender than Balyn O'Brien. The Eyre Peninsula native has made a name for himself down back with his relentless desire to compete and trademark toughness. He came on strongly this year - his first in the South Australian state program - and ended up playing six SANFL League games for Norwood, including three finals.
O'Brien's defensive craft is not just built on brawn. He reads the play well and knows when to peel off to make intercepts, now finding a greater balance between killing the play or backing himself to mark. His aerial nous allows him to play taller than his 187cm standing, although O'Brien is just as adept at locking down smalls with his determined follow-up work and pressure.

Twomey says 49 most likely sent to gc for a future 3rd
This doesn't make sense to me tbh, we'd be trading pick 42 for pick 50+. Won't be able to use it to match Dougie's bid. I get that next year's draft is stronger but I am not a fan of completely exiting from a draft.Twomey says 49 most likely sent to gc for a future 3rd

Still hoping we land Peucker somehow with a later pick in ND or rookie.
Among the players the Power have done work on are small forward Zane Peucker, ruckman Marcus Krasnadamskis, forward Liam Hetherton, VFL prospect Tobyn Murray and local midfielder Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier, while midfield pair Jack Dalton and Matt LeRay could also be in the mix deeper into proceedings. Tai Hayes, the cousin of St Kilda champion Lenny, is another player Port has looked at across the year in the VFL.
They also said to be swapping the Crows 48 for a future 3rd too. So maybe they have another one or 2027 3rd.This doesn't make sense to me tbh, we'd be trading pick 42 for pick 50+. I know Josh Carr met with Noah RT this past week.Twomey said our second pick will come into the 40s by the end of the draft as clubs tap out so it's almost a free pick for next year.

Crows are trading 48 for Suns' F3 and we might be trading 49 for another Suns' F3.Gc have essendons third. (2026)
I do not think we'll get Liam Hetherton too, seems like a pointless move.In a perfect world for this draft, Port lands both Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier and Zane Peucker.
Would be extremely surprised if Port drafts Liam Hetherton due to the amount of tall forwards Port already has and with Cochrane and Pilot coming in the next few years, not the best choice if you ask me. Tobyn Murray is a mature ager but he has been in the Geelong program and they tend to produce players. So he could be a viable small forward option
Jack Watkins has already been mentioned to get rookie listed which I’m okay with but if it’s a strategy to keep Butters at the club, I’m not okay with it.
We are keeping one spot available over the summer and if Stephenson is serious about wanting an AFL career and puts in a mountain of work, I guess he will be in contention to claim that last spot.
I agree. Jack Whitlock, Mitch Georigades, Jack Lukoisus and even Ollie Lord...I guess is enough for now. Even can throw in Todd Marshall if things are dire and has to switch from defence to forward. Would be piss poor to take in another tall forward now when there are other positions that needs addressing.I do not think we'll get Liam Hetherton too, seems like a pointless move.
Would also be shocked if we had more than 1 pick across both ND and RD (Watkins not included)
