$1.4 million is an expensive melt.Given we’re not going to get anyone of worth this late given the lack of depth in this draft, we may as well just leave the spot open and grab Ah Chee. The melts alone would be worth it.

Looks like a 1 pick difference this year will equate to a 10 ish pick difference next year
Wait port gave up the higher pick and for the pick tied to essendon? Not GCZero hanger web site has all the Pick swaps from the 1st night of the draft

NoDoes Port really have to rookie list Watkins?
Wait port gave up the higher pick and for the pick tied to essendon? Not GC
Lol
It’s the other way around. Crows had the earlier pick.So we have up 46 for a late 3rd and the Crows gave up 47 for an early 3rd.
Nice one.
We started with two picks (48 and 55) in the third round. 48 was traded, while 55 moved up a bunch of spots after all the bids were matched.Adelaide's pick was always ahead of ours. They had 48, we had 49.
But how does Adelaide have 46 if they traded their 3rd round pick away?
Not unless we gave our word and we want to keep the respect of Zac Butters. Given that we rated Watkins behind the trio we drafted in the MSD, its odd that he'd be considered as one of only two we would take in the national draft and rookie draft. We will keep one spot open for the SSP trainees.Does Port really have to rookie list Watkins?

Even if the picks 46 and 47 are the wrong way around our pick swap with gc sucks compared to the crows.
Are we the gift that keeps on giving for gc?
That’s the concern I have. if Port gave their word that Watkins would be taken in the rookie draft and there are genuine sliders somehow still available, what does Port do in those scenarios? Not unless we gave our word and we want to keep the respect of Zac Butters. I’m guessing next season we’ll trade them onto speculative 2027 fourth round picksIt's peak BigFooty when people melt over indicative 2026 third round picks.
We just gave up a Robbie Gray! It's peak BigFooty when people melt over indicative 2026 third round picks.
We just gave up a Robbie Gray!
But seriously, we have traded into a stronger draft so it should really be seen as a win.
GC would have needed some of the points from those picks from Adelaide and Port to match bids (probably Addinsall and Murray). Rather than consume the picks entirely, they just get pushed back (to reflect the reduction in points). That makes sense, but GC are listed as having picks 48 and 49 which would be Adelaide and Port picks, so how does 55 move ahead of those?
Or how does GC have those picks, I would have thought they spent them on all their Academy bid matches. It's just weird.
