With the draft hand we had and the inability to move anyone on from the trade period there was no quick fix option.
We have to go this path like it or not.
In the long run it’s the best way for us to be a serious challenge anyway.

I don't think we've been linked to Greeves at all, but he would be the ideal replacement for SPP's forward role. They can work on his midfield deficiencies over time.

Well, Brodie is 27 and the draftee would have been 18, so I doubt that’s a factor.

Absolutely.
God, if anyone has the salary cap, it is a very easy way to get some draft capital. Get him for a year, trade to Crows for a 2nd round pick next year. I wish any club had the balls to do this.
