If you think we won the Lukosius for Houston swap or that Jacob Wehr and Corey Durdin are going to be upgrades on Travis Boak and Willie Rioli, good luck to you.

This one for one transactional list analysis again. Come on man.

We have 42 players on the list. Not all of them play the same position. They get better or worse each season depending on a variety of factors, including age, experience, fitness and coaching. When all but 3 members of your best side are 27 or younger, you'd assume we'll see more of them getting better than getting worse.

"If you think Robert Forster-Knight and Josh Mahoney are going to be upgrades on Brent Guerra, Stephen Paxman, Nick Stevens and Che Cockatoo-Collins, good luck to you".

Our coaching staff may have improved but our list has gotten worse for the second consecutive year.
Technically true Schulzy but when you get in a huge amount of rookie players and youngish players like in 2024, you are not looking for instant improvement, you are bringing in potential which hopefully develops.

If Houston has another average year which is very possible, he is better than all of our 2024 but we have a whole heap of guys ready to take a leap in Berry, Moreas, Whitlock, Cochrane, Ramm, Lai, Mackinley and Liddy.

So our list may be worse but on potential, it is in a much better position.

Some potential players:

Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier

Noah Hibbins-Hargraves

Marcus Krasnadamskis

Tom Burton

Balyn O'Brien

Wes Walley

Bryce Sanders

Jett Dahlitz

Rome Burgoyne

Jez Mclennan

Jaiden Stephenson

Pretty surprised the first 4 didn’t get picked up. We have two spots right? If we can’t shake NHH out of Vic, I would be taking BOB and the Greek. Stephenson to the Maggie’s with plan to take him MSD.

Parker looked snowy-haired and tired at the end of this draft period. Wonder if he's planning to stay on much longer?

May as well already be semi retired, not like the list managers could call what they did this year 'being busy'
Why is it so difficult to grasp that all of the players that the club liked were gone by our picks? They still had to scout and evaluate the entire draft pool. It required no less work than any other year.

Yea I think this is the take. Port had to put in the time and effort to assess players. It’s also about checking players and making contacts for the future. What if Sharp wants to return to Adelaide in a year? Or we want to pry loose some of the academy players at the swans or Gold Coast?

Port obviously liked some players and there is talent in this draft. It was the logical call to take what we could get for the picks in trades compared to the chance of a player we wanted being available at our pick. Ie take the future second and third in 2026 over Peucker or whom ever being available at that pick.

I hope so. He's done a great job most years. More hits than misses for where we have generally picked in a draft. It will be nice for him to see us select some of the talent we have coming in such as Dougie, Pilot, Salopec, Rodan etc. He did look embarrassed to spend all that time on the draft and walk away with one guy from our SANFL side. He must feel it was all a big waste of time this year.
