I'll get the ball rolling on this matter by stating that the AFL website have released partial information and details about next season's fixture. Opening Round is expected to continue with the Brisbane Lions flagged to host the opening game on March 6, or the opening Friday night game of the weekend on March 7. During this round, a Victorian game on Sunday March 9 has been mooted. Our club has been slated for an Easter Thursday game against the reigning premiers on Thursday April 17 in Brisbane, straight after Gather Round in Adelaide. It is expected that the league's fixture will be released entirely by the end of next month in November. In the meantime, look out for additional clues before the full fixture is released.

According to the fixture rules we should have 5 double ups comprising:
  • 1 or 2 games against the top 6 (Brisbane, Sydney, Port Adelaide, Geelong, GWS, Hawthorn)
  • 2 or 3 games against the middle 6 (Bulldogs, Carlton, Freo, Essendon, St Kilda)
  • 1 or 2 games against the bottom 6 (Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide, WC, North, Richmond)
Plus a 6th double up courtesy of the extra Gather Round game which there's no restriction on ladder position.

We'll get 14 at the G (9 home, 5 away), 3 at Docklands (1 home against a non-Vic team, 1 home against a Docklands tenant, 1 away), 5 at non-Vic venues plus a Gather Round game in Adelaide.

I'm tipping WC, Brisbane, Sydney, Crows/Port and GC as our travels.

For Gather Round we might also end up playing Crows or Port as we need to play early in that round to back up on Easter Thursday, and the AFL has said they want to rotate who gets the disadvantage of playing the home teams.

Brisbane v Collingwood is now a permanent fixture on the Thursday before Good Friday up at the Gabba

Double ups against the Blooz and Dons, I wonder if that will happen 🤔

I think we will certainly double up against Brisbane and one of GWS/Hawthorn, Carlton, Essendon and the bottom six one is a raffle (ordinarily would be Richmond but the AFL will be concerned about dual wallopings of traditional rivals).

Away games against Bris, GC, GWS, WCE, coin flip on one of Adel/Port

Gather round won’t be against a SA team, instead will be most likely against the meekest Vic opponent average crowd wise that they can fixture us against (thinking North or WB). They’ll want to use us to sell out AO.

Mothers Day will probably be at home to Freo at Marvel (unless we double up WCE which I just can’t see, or GC which I can).

Is the thinkbubble home game on the GC vs someone other than GC happening?

2024 double ups were Blues, Swans, lions, Dee’s , Hawks and Bombers.
2023 double ups were Blues, Cats, lions, bombers and crows.

2025 wish: Hawks, North and Dogs = 1 from each 6 ( all celebrating 100 years ) Bombers mid 6, lions top 6 and Tigers bottom 6. Play our gather round game against the Dogs rather than Marvel .

My two preferences:
  • No home Marvel games against a Marvel tenant, but it will happen though.

Would you rather

- Marvel game against Marvel tenant

… Or …

- Collingwood selling a game interstate? (Eg: in Queensland)

IIRC when this was discussed earlier in the year, these were the two options.

Top option. At least I can still attend without catching a plane.

Might just play lions and pies on sat for gather round.
Open round we will be in probably get swans as (lions Easter and gc seems to be based round school holidays)
Leaves 1-4 in Melbourne with a bye.
Rd 5 gather round ( afl will want a pies sell out not competing with crows port for tix as that game will also sell out) so maybe dogs geelong a team like that. Rd6 Brisbane 7 ANZAC day v dons.
Double ups
Geelong (will go to KP imo)
Blues
Essendon
Melbourne
Hawks
Crows
Something like that is my guess

I Googled 'afl fixture 2025 release date' and this thread came up. Clicked on it and took about a dozen posts before I realised I'm on the Pies' board.

"Gee whiz...these Collingwood fans sure do love their fixturing!"

See youse in 2025!

Carlton's year, I've heard...

My two preferences:
  • Don't want to be a part of Opening Round.

i think Opening round would be good seeing we didn't play finals. I think we'll have a leg up on the top teams in opening round who had a month longer season and then another leg up if we play someone not involved in opening round in round 1. Then you get that additional bye to work on things and freshen up the players.

Don’t worry, you’ll get your two annual losses at our hands. 😂
