I thought walking the pooch was a euphemism for something and was confused for a second. The mental imagery of wearing your freo scarf while 'walking the pooch' was hilarious! My grand final highlight happened before the game when wifey & I were walking the pooch.
I was wearing my Freo scarf & as we passed a restaurant in Southbank (Criniti's) I saw a lady breakfasting there who was also wearing a Freo scarf.
I happily let out a "Go Freo", to which she replied with, "Go Dockers".
It made my day

The mannequin head and women's wigs behind him really gives it a bit of a Buffalo Bill vibe.Sounds like the coppers should be at this blokes house tomorrow
AFL would never let us (or West Coast or even the SA states) have an academy like the ones the north eastern teams gets. The academies are great!!!! The only problem with the academies is that only 4 clubs have them. Every AFL club should have an academy operating under exactly the same draft points rules as the current northern academies. Long term, the standard in AFL would skyrocket if the most talented kids around the country were in academies
Yeah but at least it isn't Collingwood, essendon, Carlton, hawthorn and the weaglesRegardless of the result, the competition is ****ed. Brisbane will make more grand finals with the free list they've built because of AFL greed.
I agree that we won't get academies. But I think footy development in WA and SA is falling way behind other states. Just have to look at how the top 20 is, well, not dominated by WA and SA kids to see that.AFL would never let us (or West Coast or even the SA states) have an academy like the ones the north eastern teams gets.
We’re in a genuine footy state and if we had complete access to all footy players coming through the draft every year we would eventually become unstoppable.
There’s just more talent over here than in Queensland/New South Wales. And only 2 teams to split the entirety of the state? AFL would never go for it.
Think Victoria would be fine due to the amount of teams, but you’d never see that kind of academy in SA or WA.
Yep, I heard one of the Brisbane assistants, can't remember which one, getting interviewed on the radio saying that the kids getting drafted now are so well prepared they can play straight away which is why you can win a flag with so many young players. What he really meant is kids coming out of Vic and the northern academies, not from WA and SAI agree that we won't get academies. But I think footy development in WA and SA is falling way behind other states. Just have to look at how the top 20 is, well, not dominated by WA and SA kids to see that.
I know there are people here very invested in the WAFL. I loved the WAFL back in the day.
So I know some will absolutely disagree with me ... but having WA or SA kids develop through state league colts means that they are not getting the best chance to fulfill their potential. Long term it will damage both WA and SA as footy states.
The proven track record of the northern academies in pumping out high end talented kids shows everyone that this is the best model for elite talent development.

What is the option?
Hand over development of all under age players to the AFL?
I still think the best option is to fund the current system better.
He’s got genuine issues, his dad played in a flag at Geelong and played state footy for Victoria and he’s hung up on ‘daddy’ as he calls him in quite a peculiar way. Check the hard drive indeed. What the actual f(k ?!?!?!
That’s kind of scary
What a looper
I’ll never un-see that when I see that weirdo on Tv next ( if he’s not in a maximum security prison or mental institution)
The WAFL pathway is really good though, it’s a saviour for country football especially in a massive state like WA. It’s pretty impressive how many guys come from towns with a post office and pub hours from Perth. The WAFL system links very well and you don’t want to diminish that.We punch over a million a year into the WAFC, West Coast usually over two.
What do we get for this? 18 clubs getting equal access to WA players. It’s ****ed.
I think the solution to all of this is to give all clubs an exclusive zone, equal in population.
Each club gets 1 pre-listed player from the academy and/or after/son pathways per year. Perhaps you can roll it forward if you have no one worth on a particular year.
The AFL can even mandate a max spend.

Good idea but it will never happen. Doesn't give enough advantage to the northern state clubs. We punch over a million a year into the WAFC, West Coast usually over two.
