Competitions 2025 AFL Mock Draft

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Below is the current draft order, I'm not going to allow more than 60 picks to be made as Cal Twomey has stated 44-57 players will be selected, if we can make a table or something like a banner to show whos been selected, will be very helpful for everyone involved as it makes it not confusing. Please don't spam the thread with messages either, makes it difficult to follow and doing write up on a prospect is totally optional if you really want to justify your reasoning and rational behind the selection.

North Melbourne bid on Lachlan Carmichael 183cm mid/ defender
Allies MVP very good year.
Good kick and decision maker
Above average overhead for size
High footy iq
I can see him slotting into the swans side and playing Nick Smith small defender role
I reckon he will seamlessly adapt to AFL footy

North Melbourne also bid on Max King 192cm forward allies swans academy
Athletically gifted.
Tested out of his skin.
Only showed glimpses this year but his highlight package is probably better than most in this draft.
Will need to work on leading patterns and footy iq in general but if he develops could be one of the best in the draft.
Would fit in nicely with the kangaroos young stock.

King Patty what do you say?
Sydney essentially use 28, 29 and 38 moves back to 42
Essendon use pick 29 and gain a 2 point surplus for next season

North Melbourne Pick 27 Mitch Marsh 191cm Forward West Adelaide

Big strong unit who has one real strength which is his marking ability.
Shows good leading patterns and forward craft and kicks goal.
Had an All Australian year in 2025 which is a fair effort.
Athleticism is passable with scope for improvement but Mitch’s strength is his ability to influence aerial contests.
Fits in nicely with a forward line that has Larkey and Zurhaar.
Mitch Marsh reminds me of an 18 year old Logan Morris.

North Melbourne Pick 28 Jack Dalton 179cm Midfielder Sandringham Dragons

Jack is an absolute goer.
Very strong endurance runner with a nice bit of speed.
Jack wins his own footy and works very hard around the ground to provide an additional option and win outside footy.
Jack is reasonable by foot but not elite.
Jack puts effort into his defensive efforts and is hard at the footy.
I suspect vic metro would have performed much better this year if Jack was able to play.
Jack injured himself doing a weights session at Xavier College.
Jack is a culture embellisher and would compliment wardlaw, sheezel and mckercher nicely.
Dalton will most likely start on a wing where he can utilise his running strength.

Surprised Marsh lasted so long. Thought he was perfect for the Dogs.

Sydney on the phone to Rosa
they have offered collingwood 2026 F3 + now 42 to Essendon for their current selection.
Hello, we are calling on behalf of the government solar panel rebate program.

Sure take the pick.

Logan Morris is the same height.
He would be our best forward if he played for the bombers.
Peter Wright is 200cm and barely holds a mark.
Marking ability is more important than height in 2026 and beyond.
Marsh does remind me of him which is why I didn't pick him, as I think Morris would be absolutely average in our team. We have one inside 50 kick that's great and then they would have the next 10 best between the two teams. Plus the best small forwards creating chaos and space. Would be a 30 goal kicker without doing much else. We are probably 5 years off a similar setup and Marsh would be left to wilt in the meantime, an end of build pick, not a foundational one.

Don’t think that’s true. You can have a tall but low paid FF who just competes and brings the ball to ground for your smalls.

Tweener mediums are the worst of both worlds. Too small to compete with your elite KPD and too slow to properly pressure.

We already have Nate caddy in that spot. And a bunch of others.

Please understand I thought picking Greeves was a very solid selection.
I certainly wasn’t questioning your pick.

Who were Brisbanes forwards this year?
Ty Gallop 194cm and Logan Morris 191cm.
The 200cm benchmark is a misnomer in my opinion.
You have to be able to mark the ball and compete in the air.
Marsh does both.
Who else do we have?
Kyle Langford is not an overhead option.
Great debate and there is no right answer when you are evaluating unproven talent.

Caddy is our only proven competitive aerial player in the forward line at the moment. May has shown some good signs as well but needs to do it consistently before I am content.

Yep I rate the Greeves pickup.
Robey
Cumming
Greeves
Sweid

It is a heavily midfield focused draft. But we are likely going for best available, but also high upside with each pick.
If Greeves was gone, marsh would have been my next for the bombers....

Brisbane have just invested almost 2M dollars a season in Draper and Allen so they clearly value the extra size.

Don’t think there’s much to take away from the lions except a dominant midfield effects every part of the ground and they were sub optimal but still good enough to win.

I tend to categorise forwards as either Pressure forwards or target forwards (key forwards)

Pressure is self explanatory. Target/key forwards are players who’s lack of pressure you put up with because they can take those bail out contested marks or bring the ball to ground and kick bags against smaller less powerful players.

I dislike medium/tweener types because they really are neither players. They don’t offer much pressure and get smothered by true KPPs

They just typically make up for these things by being excellent skills wise and winning matchups against other mediums.

To me the least valuable player type in the game:

Edit also there’s more short people then tall people so there’s just more good 3rd talls available then tall talls because genetics

That’s fine, I don’t mind if anyone disagrees. I like talking football, different perspectives are what make it interesting.

So you matched the bid for McCarthey? Doesn't that mean GWS have a selection first?
I forgot I had the pies too 🤦

I’ll edit my post
