What's the point of having 24 trades left when you've got so many problems on field? I've got 16 left.

Alternatively, what's the point of making the finals if you've got no trades left to go all the way when they're inevitably needed?

Short should have been traded out two weeks ago.
Once it was known Macrae was going to miss two plus his bye, he should have been traded.
JHF will miss 3 so he should also be traded. Hall should have been traded a week or two ago and Cleary should have gone last week.
What's the point of having 24 trades left when you've got so many problems on field? I've got 16 left.

the main reason for saving my trades was the lack of downgrade targets
i'm only interested in funding the best premiums in each position (i.e. Whitfield, Martin, Bont, Gawn, etc)
but i didn't want a bench consisting of Angove/Day-Wicks/etc because i don't rate their job security
however, Angus Clarke is exactly the right guy... we need more picks like him
also, i didn't think Short/JHF/Macrae could net me anyone i liked... and they could be covered during the byes
league success is probably the priority from here because i'm too far back in the rankings
or winning a weekly prize would be nice (hopefully, one day )... i once came 2nd many years ago

Divided my trades this week into three categories. Straight bat, aggressive but calculated, hoik to cow corner.

Straight bat - no trade or Trainor to McAuliffe.

Aggressive - Trainor to Clarke (rookie) & Bice to Merrett or Maric to Zorko.

Hoik - Trainor to Clarke, Bice to Holmes & Maric to Caldwell.

I'm partial to a wild swing across the line, so number three has a deal of appeal.

Think I'm going to try and go bang this week. Using a boost (1 left) and leaving with 14 trades.

Logic is that I reckon we'll have 20-22 each bye week, so guys priced at 50 scoring 80 don't offer that much more than the guys who'll drop off with 55-60s, but a 100-105 is a difference maker.

So deciding to fob off Maric early before he drops the ball, last week wasn't a great sign. He's a risk.

Just about which premiums I bring in - Daicos, Anderson, Pickett, Greene, Ash the ones that came through my head.

Serong/NWM/Steele leaving for consideration next week.

Daicos I figure I can get off his bye if he manages to avoid tags the next couple of weeks - but despite the value, not sure I can deal with the stress of it.

I dunno why I can't embrace Ash, especially with his matchup this week. He's probably the safest bet, right?

And do want Greene for his matchup this week, but he's had CBA time the last few weeks beforehand and been no good, so I'm not sure this week will be much more than a spike then an annoying hold beyond that. Pickett seems the real deal? But think I'll pay for that this week.

Anderson v Daicos is probably going to haunt me. Should have gone Caldwell at his price.

if i make no trades, i should have a full 23 starters (that's assuming Bice and Cleary don't get dropped)
otherwise, i might make a play for Mitchell (212k mid)
rookies need to lift !! team value needs to rise !! (currently 22m... competition leaders are around 24m )
Gawn, Martin, Whitfield all must be stopped !!

Daicos felt like the right move, but then Anderson going really well made me regret it.

Was tossing up Anderson or Pickett and ended up going Pickett - didn't want to be left behind given his performance in this role vs hard opposition. And thought in the NT Kozzy wouldn't let us down. But given the kid's never dealt with a tag, I should have seen it coming. Was happy I decided against Greene until Kozzy did that

Looking ahead, my D6 is Roberts, M6/7 is Bergman/Lindsay, F6 is Ashcroft and Flex is Flynn, so I think I can probably leave the byes with 23 premiums. Carroll, Erasmus, FOS, Travaglia all have some cash on their head for me, Clarke soon hopefully too, and even Henderson/Simpson have a touch. Tossing up whether to trade out Henderson (307k, F/M) or Simpson (259k, F). Henderson has more cash, but also offers more flexibility as a F/M loophole guy.

Think Ashcroft's time is up? Has a bye coming up, hard wing matchups. And tossing up Flynn too. Hard matchup, has the 51 in his price for another week. Lindsay probably stays another.

Only annoying thing for me is I can't get Levi up to anyone brilliant (Heeney, Caldwell, WAshcroft, Rowell really, or Hewett, Walsh, Wines, LDU coming off their byes). And no good rookies this week. Need to find 122k to get him to Bont.

Might go Carroll -> McCarthy if named (and Carroll not). And then Levi up to Bont.

Are Marshall owners thinking of moving him on? He's so close to English in price and after his bye he'll leak for a few weeks so it's now or never (+ gives the extra number this week which probably won't count for much). Part of me wonders if him down to TDK & 172k isn't a bad idea.

well, he has gone and done another ACL...
this just about sums up my year... FML
