Gather Round tickets snapped up in record time


The AFL is pleased to announce that more than 195,000 Gather Round…Festival of Footy tickets have sold… with five of the nine games sold out, 20,000 more than this time last year.

Member on sale on Tuesday saw a significant uplift in demand for tickets this year, selling more than 100,000 tickets in the first four hours, in comparison to the same amount in 24 hours last year.

This year there are an extra 47,000 tickets on offer for fans with the two Saturday matches being ticketed separately.

Tickets still remain for Collingwood vs Sydney Swans on Friday night, Carlton vs West Coast on Saturday afternoon, Melbourne vs Essendon on Saturday night and a very limited number of restricted view tickets and tickets for the Pepsi Collective for Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn on Sunday evening.

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said it was clear Gather Round momentum was not slowly down.

“The demand for tickets this year was significantly higher than the first two Gather Rounds, with more than 195,000 tickets being purchased in the first two days,” said Mr Dillon.

“A ticket to the matches at the Barossa Park was always going to be one of the hottest tickets in town and the fans have certainly illustrated that by selling out both matches so quickly.”

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said: “Gather Round continues to exceed all expectations.

“We are honoured that so many footy fans from around the country are making the commitment to travel to our beautiful state to experience this event like no other.

“They’ll be truly welcome.

“If you haven’t got a ticket already – get in quick!”

Brings the to-be-confirmed season attendance total to a record 317,418. Up about 2.8% on last year's total of 308,981 which consisted of 9 fewer games but also included a 23k double-header with a men's final.

Standalone average attendance last year was 2671 (285,896 / 107 games), this year it was 2712 (317,418 / 117 games).

Average isnt all that important either, when they play at so many different venues in different locations. A change in average attendance may just reflect that, rather than any actual change in interest or demand. Provided there isnt a huge change of course, and it hangs there abouts, with a somewhat upward trend, its OK.

Importantly not every fixture counts towards the AFLs target either. Remote matches, games at odd times etc - these are separate to the matches the AFL considers for the womens target.

Counting on the Ticketmaster map, for the 14 February 2026 AFL State of Original game there appears to be remaining:

250 seats locked for members of Dockers and Eagles intended to be WA supporters.

2 wheelchair spots

1,000 seats for the General Public and intended to be Vic supporters but could be anyone.

Pies v Freo @ GR almost sold out.Hawks v Dogs not far behind. Only Bombers v Dees likely not to sell out.

Don't want to step on anyone's toes by opening a new thread for 2026 - but the Opening Round games on sale so far for the new season:

Syd v Carl - no tickets left on sale, should be a good one.

GC v Geel - plenty of seats left in the top deck of the main outer stand, most bays have not sold their last third. Little disappointing at the moment, it's about time GC drew a big crowd to a non-Pies game.

GWS v Haw - most of the bays marked on the map look like this:



The pattern of supposedly sold rows in between empty ones makes it difficult to know whether those unavailable seats have actually been sold or not. This could be a decent effort or a poor one depending on what's going on.

Bris v WB - still a few tickets left but mostly way up the back. Should sell out.

StK v Coll - Only ones currently on sale to public are the middle sections of Q5-10. Haven't looked until today so not sure of the status of Ponsford or Northern Stands but nothing is being offered at the moment. AFL Members is approaching 80% full.

They’re mostly the $40 ones but there are a couple of bays full of $55 seats.
