3 and half mids on the bench (counting Wagner as a defensive mid). Ideally you would like one defender, one forward in there.

I think Banfield comes out for Switta.

Sharp or Fyfe would come out if Walker or Simpson was fit.

Cooper has played one game at Half Back for us .?
A good performance, sure but we’d want to see a bigger body of evidence ?

No, he is locked in my best 22.

May become a bit more line ball if Walker and Simpson were available, but I think Simpson still makes it.

I would probably drop Worner.

Ryan Pearce Walker
Clark Cox Chapman
Noddy Young Wagner
Bolton Treacy Reid
Dudley Amiss Voss

Jackson Brayshaw Serong

Johnson, Erasmus, Simpson, Freddy.

Sub: Fyfe.

Notes: I'm not convinced Sharp or Darcy are in our best 22. Banfield and Worner unlucky. It's still a bloody young team.

Nothing like doing this when the team is flying and depth has all stood up. Everyone is a shoe-in for AA, Brownlow or Coleman.

Ryan Pearce Simpson
Chapman Cox Clark

I cant go past what Cooper showed those two games, how quickly he picked up the role at WAFL and how much the coaches rate him as a talent. He makes so much dangerous and I cant wait to get him to 50 games.

Johnson Brayshaw Wagner
Jackson Serong Bolton

There is too much quality to play Sharp because he runs all day. The same logic applies to Hodor until he gets a preseason and proves fitness. I LOVE what Jackson did playing mid/ruck but if you have Young he adds a bigger body. They like starting Bolton with the other two so I think for this year, Bolton / Young basically swap out

Young Treacy Freddy
Switta Amiss Voss

Mostly picks itself to be honest. Swap Young and Bolton if you like.

Walker Dudley Erasmus Reid

Sub:Fyfe

I need Walker for elite smalls and I think you just do bulk rotations up between the forwardline and midfield with all of Ras, Reid Young, Bolton and Freddy to play the "extra" forward off the bench.

Some extremely unlucky names between Darcy, Worner, Sharp, JOM and Walters but we'll never be fully fit anyway. It's a very good first 25ish

Nice list but poor old Banfield (who like everyone I have had a go at) doesn’t even get mentioned in the unlucky names after plugging every hole we have had out on the oval.

I like the honesty of performance of JOM but Banfield has actually had more impact.

Banfield is our best ever sub player - easily.

Got to give it to him, he gets knocked down he gets up again…

Worner would be very very unlucky to lose his spot again.

Noddy also unlucky to not even make the unlucky list.

2026 side.

Pickett can take the last small forward spot.

JOM, Erasmus, Freddy, Wagner, Warner, plus the draftees and NGA players can fight for the last two spots.

B: Walker Pearce Chapman
HB: Simpson Cox Clark
C: Sharp Johnson O'Driscoll
HF: Jackson Tracey Bolton
F: <Small Forward> Amiss Dudley
R: Darcy Brayshaw Serong
B: Reid Switta Draper Young <mid>
Where's Pickett? ;)

Freo have too many mids who dont convincingly play another position.

JOM, MJ, Erasmus arent really at the stage where they can expect 100% inside mid minutes.

they can play wing somewhat competently, but ideally MJ and Erasmus learn how to play half back like joel corey and corey enright could. If they could do a job similar to Worner there I think that would be great for versatility and having fresh legs constantly run through the midfield.

Great team but surely a fully fit Noddy gets a shot on the wing ahead of Johnson?

If they could learn to play like Corey Enright in defence then they'd have a permanent position as a defender. Maybe you mean Mitch Duncan or someone else?

Believe Enright started as a mid before moving back and rotated thru on occassion.

Noddy is a fan favourite while MJ seems to be a coaches favourite. Pays much better to be a coaches gave

If we were playing a qualifying final and everyone was fit:

Ryan, Pearce, Worner,
Chapman, Cox, Clark
NOD, Brayshaw, Sharp/Erasmus
Bolton, Amiss, Switkowski
Voss, Treacy, Walters

Jackson, Serong, Young

I: Johnson, Simpson, Reid, Frederick

Sub: Fyfe

Just missing: one of Sharp/Erasmus, JOM, Dudley, Walker, Banfield, Darcy (horses for courses).

Personally I'd have Walker in over Worner for team balance.

No Wagner either?

Ah crap forgot Wagner actually. That's how hard this is. Agree with above that Wagner would play ahead of Simpson.

Deliberately choosing Worner plus Simpson/Wagner combo over Walker though.

I think the issue is that we probably have half a dozen or so C+ graders. What we desperately need is for a couple of them to stick more than their noses out in front of the others and become consistent Bs.
