It is a farce. We can't have the umpires deciding the Brownlow anymore.

N Daicos has 98 votes across the last 3 seasons and hasn’t even won it!Taranto also got like 20+ votes, do you remember him doing anything of note this season? Couple that with Viney outscoring NWM in THAT game and there is a serious flaw in this system. Something is seriously broken. Cripps did not have COMFORTABLY the greatest season of all time last year and Rowell did not rival it this year.
Quite funny - while Whateley agreed Rowell is as worthy winner, he complained he got too many votes. I don’t recall him having such complaints last year when Crippa was BOG about every round of football he played.I’m a traditionalist but after Cripps (45) and then Rowell (39) this year something needs to change. It’s all out of whack with the tallies being accumulated.

Exactly. Daicos has consistently polled excellently. And in no way got less than what he deserved.I can't see how anyone can read this stat and think the solution is to take it off the umpires...
The US sports and their MVP is done by journalists, but in general there's 50+ separate people representing a variety of locations and outlets all independently submitting a ranked choice vote and those are tallied up. That ensures less duplication and is definitely better than getting everyone in a room and having the loudest voices triumph.Heaven forbid the Vic journalists ever get a say in the voting.........no interstate team player would ever get a vote..

I think it was a terrible mistake to deprive the umpires of statistics from the game when casting their votes.I love the way people and commentators point to individual games when the votes don't go the way they think they should and say there's a serious flaw in the system.
As if there aren't flaws and biases in all of the other awards.
Gary Lyon just gave Dangerfield the highest individual prize in footy after a season where he wouldn't have ranked in the Top 20 players.
The charm of the Brownlow is that it's awarded by the umps and fiddling with that would be a major misstep.
The Brownlow scoring should be based on SuperCoach points
Nothing is broken in terms of Taranto getting 20 Brownlow votes. He was the standout in a weak team. Good season by Taranto? Yes. Brownlow type season by Taranto? No. But a player will get votes if their teams wins and if they perform in a weak team = that equation is what happened to Taranto.
Sometimes that equation can mean a player winning a Brownlow.....Priddis comes to mind.
Reckon a few of your kids could have got some votes though. Not sure how Lalor didn't poll in a few games.
Oh Elixuh, are you a secret Fantasy Hat Bro Xerri Fan???
I don't think any of snoops songs contain the phrase "umm yeah umm"I feel we could also see a Bailey Smith and Snoop Dog duet if the Cats win . The AFL has nailed the timing.
You recon voting would have to be changed in Daicos got the 39 votes?Find the media extremely disrespectful towards Rowell saying that the voting needs to be changed. All of this rubbish because Daicos didn't win.

With you on that one McIvor.I still can't believe how Anderson won GOTY.
I mean there was not one redeeming quality about it that made it special. As I pointed out appreciating they weren't in the running, but take our game against the Pies on the weekend, but all of these goals which would never win goal of the week let alone GOTY were far better; Houston, Rayner's first, Charlie's etc. I mean Zorko's and Gallop's first were basically the equivalent.
Therefore what on earth am I missing how Anderson's won head of Wash and Flanders? Anderson's was miles off those.
Bewildering.
