I say this every year… It is best and fairest award. Umpires give the latter strong weighting in their deliberations. Rowell is arguably an unsurprising winner in that context.So who would you have suggested wins it? Rowell was a standout player when you look at previous winners. It's always been a subjective award. Other awards are there anyway. Coaches', players', club B&F, media awards. This is the only one that gets a 3 hour TV slot- so be it.
