This is the problem with the AFL media landscape they are just cheerleaders for high profile players and teams and very little real analysis is given to actual football performance.

We're still using the voting system we had when there was one umpire, televisions didn't exist and stats analysis was players keeping a rough tally of how many kicks they had and what they come up with being gospel.

The only defence anyone puts up for it is "The Brownlow has always been a bit quirky."

Rowell is a worthy winner, but there is so much wrong with the whole event it's an entire anachronism.
