I'm not that upset with it, it allows fans to lock in interstate travel early if they want. What is the go with selling the first 15 rounds now? What do they want us to take out a mortgage to buy away tickets etc, what happened to just selling the best month or so??
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't General Admission not available for pre-purchase unless the game is fully ticketed, because there is no need? I.E you just rock up with your membership (on your phone) and Robert's your mother's brother, no pre-booking required.

You can still stand with your family & friends and no one is stopping you from doing that - it's simply a case that the standing room at KP is part of the general admission allocation, which is why you can't reserve a spot within that area
Just as you can't reserve a seat in the GA seating area, you can't reserve a spot in the GA standing area - that would make it a reserved ticketing location
If they were to change a section of standing room to a reserved allocation, you'd then be paying closer to the reserved seating membership prices - I highly doubt that is part of their plans
Ah yep, makes sense. You have to access the 'Mobile Membership' tab on the app and then download the GA tickets to your phone prior to scanning in.
I mean, yes they could, but if they have a General Admission section, it makes sense for standing to be a part of that, as they will be the cheapest tickets. It is the club's choice to make standing room part of 'General Admission'. There is nothing stopping the club making pre-booking of a ticket available to members if they chose to do so. It is economically convenient to them to keep the current system, as they feel they can sell more tickets on Gameday with the current system, particularly to the visiting team's supporters.
I remember this being the way for a couple season around the time of our three flags. In those days we had H&A memberships, with no seats, and used to be able to "upgrade to seats in the GA Terrace for a few bucks per head. This all came to an end around the time of the Premiership and Players stands. What is the go with selling the first 15 rounds now? What do they want us to take out a mortgage to buy away tickets etc, what happened to just selling the next month or so??
Um, me and my family got them. (posted about this a few pages back)Confirmed with membership that there again won’t be any membership cards sent out this year, including for Social Club.
This 'dynamic pricing' rort that we have at different stadiums right now is an absolute joke. I was in the same boat as you. Had two tickets for my son and me (courtesy of our memberships) and then had a couple of friends here who wanted to come as well.FWIW - and I know this isn't Geelong's fault because unfortunately Away clubs get what they are given - as an interstate member, we get a free ticket to a Cats game in our state.
So, I went to book a ticket for me (a member) and the wife (not a member) at the Gabba on the day that tickets opened up... and for me, it was free, great. For the wife, we could not get a ticket next to me any cheaper than, I kid you not, $100.
Ergo, I get that I'm probably in a decent seat for gratis, but the lack of flexibility is cripplingly expensive if you want to bring someone.
It's also a shame because, with Brisbane winning the flag, the AFL has a massive opportunity to keep filling the Gabba and growing the sport. This 'dynamic pricing' rort that we have at different stadiums right now is an absolute joke. Got in right at the start of the online queue when the tickets went on sale and was offered seats next to us at $86 each (in what is basically a GA area at ground level, deep in the forward pocket). Refused to pay that amount and tried to get on the next day to source some GA for my friends.
Got in early again and was offered tickets directly behind the goals at $55 each. These insanely overpriced tickets were quickly snapped up by others, as they were unavailable within five minutes of me accessing the site. The next best offer was then $92 each. And all this within 10 minutes of general admission tickets going on sale.
When you compare this to the 'G and Marvel (GA tickets for the 2025 H&A season fixed at $27) and even the cost of GA at the Cattery, this is a complete farce. As in all things AFL, though, fairness and equity run a very distant second to the pursuit of the almighty dollar.
You are right. But they seriously don't care because they're probably still generating the same revenue (or more) while not even bothering to fill the stadium and thus grow the supporter base. It's also a shame because, with Brisbane winning the flag, the AFL has a massive opportunity to keep filling the Gabba and growing the sport.
I noticed that for a v Carlton game last year. Thought that price was ridiculously excessive. I mean it's almost the cost of a prelim ffs.I got through the queue and when I looked to upgrade my GA seat for Easter Monday to a reserved seat, it was going to start at $30 and not $15 as per the email, plus $3.80 fee
Bugger all that - sticking with GA
And yep was $65 for me as obviously I haven't purchased my 6-game yet.I got through the queue and when I looked to upgrade my GA seat for Easter Monday to a reserved seat, it was going to start at $30 and not $15 as per the email, plus $3.80 fee

Go GA. Not really a bad seat at the G anyway unless you're up around the scoreboard

Does anyone know if ALL bays on L4 are GA. Or are they doing the usual bullshit the first 10/15 rows are reserved seating
Ponsford is good enough for me. Will get there early to get a good spotWhen we can select our seating in the finals I try to buy behind the goals & our cheer squad in that area - $35, maybe a small fee also
As an H&A member I get GA access to away games but will upgrade if needed - a couple of years ago our match against Essendon at Marvel was going to have limited GA and they recommend upgrading to a reserved seat. It was going to cost be a min of $40/$45 to upgrade when I already had access so I decided to risk GA and see what I could get - I'm not paying more to upgrade than a full ticket to the finals costs me
No confirmation until the week of the match, but often the full top level of the Ponsford will be GA, with it more likely the Olympic Stand to have reserved seating in front of the GA area due to ground location
The Warne Stand (Great Southern) will potentially be a mix
Lol one of my students is mad Hawks. We were watching 08 and 11 highlights of the GFs the other day (were allowed to) so I drew him a diagram of the G and every seat where I sat for them. (Two of them Ponsford top deck)
He was like "You went to 1995?!?!!!"
Was so funny. Yes I'm ancient
You poor thing. My first official AFL game was the 95 GF
My half brother worked for the club and got a couple of tickets for me & mum - I went up pre-season games with dad where we stood in the Ablett Terrace, but as a Social Club member, I didn't go to actual home games with him

My first game was that year too… we drove all the way out to Waverley to watch us get absolutely smashed by StKilda. Gordon Fode (!!!) took us to the cleaners. You poor thing.
My first game as ive said before was Ablett v Salmon.
That loss I guess gave me a good preview of what was to come being a Geelong supporter![]()
I was hooked even before the bounce. Stairs up to L1in the (old) Olympic stand, was a beautiful day iirc. Hooked. Mum had to take me to every game pretty much from then on.My first game was that year too… we drove all the way out to Waverley to watch us get absolutely smashed by StKilda. Poor Dad. Thought he’d at least pick an easy win game to get me introduced to footy…
What an unbelievably great first game you had - one of the best H and A games of all time.
I took my daughter to the MCC members on Day 3. Her ticket was $5 but then they added $8.70 service fee. Pretty outrageous.with a service & handling fee of $8.70 per transaction. Think that's the highest fee I've seen in a long long time
WHAT the ****.How the **** is there a service fee at the gate.
Get ****ed
Can't you just print your barcode off the phone and use that? Or is it some weird dynamic barcode?*bring back a physical card that can scan. I will sign up again.
