We will likely have more bolters to after the combine has concluded

Not sure which club takes a chance on any of the young rucks, most clubs seem to only ever need a ready made ruck

Xavier Taylor was my guy but he’s out of reach with our first now.

Disappointing.

Was out of reach a long time ago unfortunately, I stopped pinning my hopes once Twomey basically said he was a top pick.

If we wanted him, we could've easily got him with the Hynes pick. Easy in hindsight I guess.

Carlton and Saints are all in on bringing in players over drafting. Carlton have 3 players tied to them so only need points and saints 1 with Caminiti to promote to the senior list.
Dean will go early for blues, potentially before their first so makes sense to trade it out. Fincher has also pushed right up boards the last month or so for Saints.

Yeah disappointing even Dovaston might go before our pick after yesterday performance.
With Allen + TDK + likely Draper compensation than shifts our pick 10 back to pick 13, which should get us the 17th best kid in the draft post the obvious QLD academy players and Dean to Carlton.

So many variables this trade and draft period between bringing a future pick forward if the right players are there; pushing our 1R into 2026 (more currency for Butters), or using it for Wilkie. I don’t mind not having an early pick this year given the extra games we will want to get into Hynes, Dolan and Jacques who were not in our final team this year.

How in the hell does the AFL not have a safety net around Academy picks. The lions play in 3 straight GF's possibly 2 flags and get access to one of the best kids in the draft. Just wrong, there is no way they should be able to do this.

They got lucky with father/sons I have got no problem with that rule.

If we can get our hands on another late first rounder, I’d love for us to take the gamble on Harley Barker. Will miss most of next year with an ACL. But was firming for a top 10 finish before that. Has the height / speed / huge kick / running capabilities suited for the modern game.
He could be developed as a half back or wing & in my view is a potential midfielder.

I like the idea of Sam Grlj another pacy midfielder to bring some more two way running and some breakaway speed appeals
As long as he’s not a soft outside player. Is he tough in the contest?

Also he lacks a bit in the vowels department…

His brief highlights on the AFL website show that he's a neat kick but not much else to go by.
In the game below he seems to be on the small side but tackles well and has quick hands. Wears No5.

I wonder if we use our first in trade and then the Farrow v Taylor v Dovaston debates end up dead in the water anyway.
Based on all of the rumors and links so far. I am looking at who all the best rated players, for the third round are. For the next three seasons haha.

I think there is more chance the Suns get Marra for nothing then there is of pick 6 being involved.
Whilst I agree...I wonder if the Suns would consider how much extra in their salary cap pick 6 is worth?

ie. The Bulldogs pay all of Marra's salary for next year and trade him and a second-round pick to the Suns for pick 6. Therefore, the Suns get JUH to play for them with no cost to their salary cap. That puts the value of pick 6 at, what, $500k and a second round pick?

In the above scenario, pick 6 is worth $800k and a second round pick to the Bulldogs - perhaps too much?

The bottom line is that the club trading out an in-contract player can monetise the trade by swapping some salary that they would continue to pay in return for draft pick(s).
