But would love an additional first rounder to grab another higher end talent.

Another one is always welcome, I wouldn't want to trade out next year's first for one though. Maybe three 2nd rounders for someone's first.

I'd be happy with Barker, but I'd prefer someone like Oskar Taylor as I think he has a better defensive game.

I'm totally fine with trading out of the first round this year by the way. Even trading our first into next year if there's a favourable deal, I'm more then fine with. I like a lot of players in our range, and I think they will be suitable for us, but I'm not confident they will be A grade players.
I'm also open to splitting the pick if we get a nice deal. Taylor, Barker, Thredgold are players I like between our 1st and 2nd picks. Pickett too, looks talented on the little I've seen of him, seems very risky though.

I'm just not seeing many elite traits after the first 8 players which is why I'm happy enough to trade it.

I don’t even see 8 players with many elite traits. Duursma, Uwland, Patterson yes. CDT maybe? Annable probably. The whole first round of this draft to me is like a very good back end of the first round in any other draft.

I actually love this draft for its fit to our list, I’d happily have 2 1st round picks or to move our 1st for North’s two 2nds.

We won’t be short of young pups in 2026 either with Hynes, Dolan, Jaques and Croft all needing more games than in 2025.

Lots of good rebounders and small forwards in the second round.

First 7 I meant, I doubled up on 2 players :drunk:. I'd add Robey and Dean to the above players you mentioned.

Agree, there's quite a good spread of player's to pick from in this year's draft.

AFL has officially given the Eagles an extra first rounder. Anticipated, but I don't think it was official before now.

At least it's end of first round, not straight after their #1 pick.
Four extra rookie spots too.

It's interesting that the concept of 'competitive balance' only goes one way, whilst in the case of Brisbane with multiple FAs/academies/father son picks (with more to come) after a sustained period of success they just let that run. The one exception being Sydney's trade ban in 2014.

And that was only because it got in the way of the preferred narrative of Franklin headlining the newly formed GWS.

Robey looks like a star in the making. Can only hope we get a pick high enough for him, he would make a dynamic duo with Freijah through midfield in years to come.

Wouldn't mind trading our 1st pick this year for a 1st rounder next year to assist with the potential Butters trade. But only if we miss out on our trade targets that are worth getting in our pick range.

That way we should have a maximum of 4 1st rounders available to trade next year to move up the board to satisfy Port.

Sometimes I think this, other times I think **** it and take the Brisbane and Geelong approach and then you can only trade what you have left.

Would Curtin be around our pick?
Or more of a top 5 player
He'd be lucky to go first round at this point. Personally i think he should've played behind the ball this year. He is alot less mobile then his brother and although that could change by loosing some puppy fat I think it scares off alot of clubs. At the start of the year I rated him higher then his brother at the same age but have not been impressed by his top age year.

Because it impacted the AFL's preference for Buddy to go too the Plastics

Seeing Dovaston slipping to the late teens - early 20s in some mocks, I would love to be able to package 28 and our Buku comp plus a future pick to grab Farrow at 10 (or whatever our first pick ends up at) and then Dovaston with the additional late 1st. Would be huge addressing two areas of need with a few promising young prospects with high ceilings and then Will Darcy for another developing KPD with a late / rookie pick.

If we stay at pick 10, that seems to be the starting point for a fair bit of variance in the draft order.

Looks like Robey and Taylor will definitely be gone, Farrow likely gone.

Dovaston has obvious appeal. His combination of ball winning and defensive intent is something we only really had in West this year. West, Weightman, Dolan and Dovaston would be a very good, very dangerous, young small forward group.

The mids around that range in Grlj, Cumming and Greeves all have an argument why we’d go with of them.

The late rising Oskar Taylor is one that might be pitching a bit after our pick but could be of interest to us too.

It’s pick 12 with the Eagles, Carlton compo picks. Then expect 4 bids (Uwland, Patterson, Annable, Dean)

So it’s 14-16 depending on if Suns & Carlton trade away their pick or use it for points

I just mentioned on the other thread that we must be targeting a specific player if we look to move to the suns pick (7). Current draft looks like:

Duursma, CDT, Robey will all definitely go top 6.

Most likely outcome is X. Taylor & Sharp also go, then we see any of the next 8-12 names go just before us (my guess is Cumming), leaving us with the rest of that group to pick from.

But maybe we expect one of Taylor or Sharp to fall. Would surprise no one to see Tigers grab Grlj & Dons grab Cumming

I think X.Taylor will be a great defender at AFL level but I can’t help but see a lot of ability that would transition into the midfield down the track. Richards style.

How do we get Butters next year? We can trade 26 and 27 first rounders... we would have to have an even worse year than this year to make that enough.

Also do we have any F/S or NGA next year?

trading this years 1st into next year would help?
