It gets worse. The WA U18 state coach at the time was (still is, I presume) a rabid Bulldogs fan. He told Dalrymple about a potential superstar he had to draft named Nat Fyfe.

We already have a 'raw and not ready' ruck on the list. I don't think we need a second one.

Someone who can actually step in as a mature player, yes I'd take one.

I just don't really see someone in that category tbh. Not in the VFL atleast.

Would rather us just look for the best player we can in the midseason draft.

Tom Dolan at the Jets, another 178cm kid who loves to tackle. Mid/defender, I think he'd make it as a defender in the AFL.

Too old and too short to have never been on an AFL list,

Similar to Hayden McClean when he has to ruck for Sydney just too small at top level to be competitive and if he hasn't been on a list ever suggests he doesn't have enough strings to his bow to compensate

I wouldn't be against it as a break glass option who is ready to go. There are plenty of ways to compete at 197cm and they usually are things developed with age. All we would need is someone who is somewhat serviceable at the contest can't expect a world beater as a mid season Pick.
