They do but probably means they’re already “over invested” in that area. They already have Gothard (pick #12, 2023) and Hannaford (pick #18, 2024) who haven’t got a look in yet.

They're one of the teams that play multiple though and don't mind rolling them up the wing. Hannaford could still settle at half-back aswell.

Really? Didn’t they just get Kako and their academy picks are at least one small forward?

El Achkar is definitely a small forward but lacks the defensive side that Dovaston has. Sweid played alot of midfield in U18's but would most likely be a half forward at AFL level. Small forward is the one spot I can’t see them drafting.

I think Taylor might be over hyped by rankers & media. I don't see him being that good. I feel he's similar to Coffield.

I liken Taylor to Coffield aswell but I think youre massively underrating Coffield pre ACL's. I can’t see Taylor sliding out of the top 6-10 and if he did slide to us I imagine we quickly snap him up, it would be a genuine steal.

The only decent key defender I see (after Dean obviously) would be Blake Thredgold but our first is probably too high and second too far

Thredgold reminds me a little bit of Sam Taylor when he was a junior without the size. I wouldn't be surprised if we picked him at our 1st, draft is very even. Tested well right across the board. I'm just not sure if he will fill out to be a No 1 defender which might be the factor.

I'm comfortable with him but I also really like Oskar Taylor.

We have a real need for a dynamic half back who can defend and run off (like Richards) used to do.

I actually think Dovaston will be gone by our pick. He's clearly the best forward in the draft and one club ahead of us will decide that he's the one they want rather than a generic midfielder.

Same thing happened with Pickett years ago.

I tend to agree.

McNeil & Vandermeer need to be pushed out of the side but the reality is that the club might look at Weightman, Dolan & Arty (all had minimal impact within our best 23 in 2025) and see a clear path to solving that issue without using high draft capital.

Interested to see how he tests. I feel like he’d be more of a late option in a good draft.

Went around the 6.40 mark for 2km which is above average from what I've been told. Was above average in agility too. Was top 10 for speed and leap.

Agree with the bottom part. There's a lot of good athletes in the draft, whether they will make a good footballers is another thing. The draft is going to be very hit or miss I feel.

Agreed. He plays footy like a smaller version of Toby McLean. McLean was probably cleaner below his knees but less crafty around goal.

If we’re targeting a small or high half forward in the draft, they need to have one of two traits. They must either be strong and powerful enough to break and hold tackles, or have elite speed and endurance to cover ground from halfback to forward.

Dovaston is a tidy player with solid skills, but his physical traits sit below AFL standard.

I still think 'best avauilable' in the first round, then adjust in later pick(s).
El Souki in 2026 makes Dovaston less of a desperate need.

I'm not sold on Pickett. Byrne would be my first choice small at our second pick. May be a reach but my second choice would be Leon Kickett.
If Dovaston is off the board at our first im all in on O.Taylor.
