Already looks like a fairly decent build to. Wouldn't be a bad pick up at all
If still available at our 2nd very much worth taking a gamble on has the athletic traits. Also the competitive drive to not get beaten and that is something that can't be taught.

Gives O'Sullivan vibes from Geelong so could be a long term solid defensive player.

I think it definitely wouldn’t hurt bringing in another 2 key defenders through the draft one being will darcy . It’s been an area of need for a long time now and it’s not 100% certain that we have nailed the position yet with buss and jod

The club has made progress in setting up a pipeline of replacement in most areas. Key defender space could still do with a bit of future proofing so would grab Thredgold if still on the table out our second pick.

Not sure I'd go for Holmes as he will leave to go to Geelong after 2 years.
Lucky he isn’t actually from Geelong. Hopefully he doesn’t want to play with his brother. But you can definitely see Geelong targeting him.

They’ll probably pick him with their first if someone doesn’t get in before them.

Henry got traded to Geelong to play with his brother but instead found himself stuck in the twos.

Code sports:

The Bulldogs had been exploring a potential move up the draft order by packaging up their first two picks, but nothing was locked in during the trade period at least. Regardless, the club believes there will be some “exciting and diverse” talent available to it. The Dogs could do with another young key defender to develop and should get that in father-son prospect Will Darcy, who is the son of Luke and brother of Sam. Exactly where a bid comes for the raw but promising 198cm tall isn’t completely clear, but it is likely to be after the Bulldogs’ second pick as it stands. So, if the Dogs retain their first pick where it is, they could look to add some outside run and class, with players like Woodville-West Torrens midfielder-forward Jevan Phillipou, Eastern Ranges rebounding defender Oskar Taylor, Sturt wingman Harley Barker or Dandenong Stingrays forward-midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves being potential options.
We can hardly expect to be moving up all that much given we set the market for our downgrade pick. 37 and 14 = 12 so 14 and 33 (and maybe a future second rounder) would get us pick 9 or 10, at absolute best.

I have very little knowledge of the players at underage level, and really only follow the players whose family I know, Bulldog father/sons, and those drafted by the Bulldogs when the draft is on.

Callum Smith, the grandson of Kevin Bartlett, seems to be an outside chance of being drafted. I am not sure how may know the Bulldog connection with the Bartletts. Kevin Bartlett's parents were big Bulldog supporters (as was KB growing up) and KB (as a 7 year old) and his parents attended the 1954 Grand Final.

If he happened to be drafted late by the Bulldogs then that would be a great connection. Obviously his first hope is to be drafted, then if so, by Richmond.

With only two active picks
My super uneducated opinion

First pick: Curtin

Second Pick: McCarthy Bid Taylor Bryne

Third pick: Will Darcy

Rookies: Cooper Craig-Peters

Rookie: Adrian Cole

Cat b: Harley Hicks

A bit torn,

I agree with VD that Cody Curtin may be the best pick if we were to get one thing out of this draft. If we want to develop a long term star at FB - he is it. His upside is huge and he already has a presence about him.

A slight alternative (am also OK with Curtin and Byrne).

1. Dovaston / Artie is my favourite but hasn’t shown his ability to work in well with Darcy and is only a bit better with Naughton. He is something we don’t have but don’t see it as a huge hole. Dolan has shown more with both and up the ground (hence going with Curtin first). Small forwards of West, Weightman, Jones, Dolan, McNeil, VDM - assuming we delist at least one of these. Alternative is getting a wing or hard running midfielder like Grij (won’t make to us) - Wing is still not clear - Davidson looks really good, Jacques looks good there coming from HBF, Poulter and Baker are OK but not quite there - that guy running spread is something we don’t have and see more at MCG and bigger ovals.
2. Curtin - some have him ranked later which I don’t understand but perhaps because he has less class than his brother but more mongrel. Has really high upside - is a 200cm already big bodied athlete - could develop into a very good fullback Croft is playing well as a third tall - he needs a lot of bulk to play on men at FB - Curtin would play this year . Also fills the role of a second ruck. We only have two rucks on the list.
3. Darcy - LT D.Moore like project. We don’t have elite competition stats to go on here - could be a flop but unless you have ready made stars you need to go with some choice. This is what Adelaide has done really well and are coming along well.
4. CCP - I know we have struck out but we have also go good service and the strength of our VFL helps us. He can only play one role but if Libba goes down - we will thrust a still young Sanders in with Garcia and they will need help. He has grunt and is an elite tackler - something we don’t have.
5. Kobe Williams - I see something there - awkward height - quick and good reaction time. Beautiful kick.
6. Nathan Eagleton this is another specky for the wing role. I think we have enough back up players A - I am OK going high risk/high return - don’t know if this is him. But we would know enough about him to know (and Harley Hicks - so happy to pick the best of those we know).
