He wasn't really on my radar so I cant comment. Just received a text from a VFL contact to share. The same contact who told me of our interest in Harry Scott earlier in the year.
Reckon we might have a couple of players late in the draft we are interest in hence why we have let JJ and Poulter go to open up the 5 list spots.

Found a little bit of info about young Nicholas

Nick Driscoll
State: Victoria Metro
Community Club: Northern Knights
Community Club: Eltham

Midfielder who is prepared to take the game on using his speed to break open the play. Capable of playing either inside or outside, Driscoll is an extremely hard competitor who was ultra consistent for the Northern Knights this year, averaging 17.4 disposals in 16 matches, including a season-high 28 disposals against the Gippsland Power in Round 18. Showed an impressive combination of speed and endurance at the state Draft Combine in Melbourne, recording 2.94 for the 20m sprint and 6:27 for the 2km time trial.

Have we ever recruited anyone half decent who came from Eltham?

Interesting views on some of the prospects in that age article.

I just cant see the dogs picking any midfielders who are not quick or have elite endurance, ideally both.

Rules out Cumming, Greeves, Lindsay, Farrow.

Some of the goals that NHH kicks are outrageous. How did he test?

I can see a spot for him in our side as the mercurial medium forward type if physical traits are AFL compatible.

I’m coming around to Dovaston but cant help but think he is gone by our pick with our pick slide to 14 (most likely pick 19 or 20 on the night)

NHH has been injured at times of testing, he has had a horrible run at it. His athletic ability is there though.

Carlton ITKs saying Blues are very keen on Dovaston. Not sure how that works with a bid on Harry Dean likely coming within the top 10 though.

Absorb bid with pick 9, pick 11 slide back 1-2 spots.

I think Dovaston goes at the Dees or Blues pick. And Eagles should be all over him too.
I'd expect Melbourne to be all over him too after taking two mids early in the draft last year.

I like Dovaston and will still be stoked if we get him, but if we are talking need with the assumption this might be our last 1st round pick for a while (Butters), I think biggest need is still another running defender / potential future mid in the Ed Richards, Bailey Dale mould. Jaques showed some nice things, but not a ton else in the cupboard coming through with him. In that young fwd mix, hopefully he is over the issues, but we have Weightman, West, Dolan, Hynes, Arty Jones, VDM and maybe even Davidson if he settles on a HF flank.

Cumming has speed. He's a burst step inside mid. Maybe not have the top speed of some in the draft but his acceleration and power separates him from other mids. Farrow is similar to Cumming.

I think the top 5 players to go for speed or endurance are in order for the first pick are Oskar Taylor, Dovaston, Cumming, Farrow, Hargreaves. Then next pick Phillipou, Barker, Pickett, Byrne, Holmes.

It's unlikely Dovaston or Cumming will be there by Dogs first pick though. Oskar has to be the no.1 pick for the dogs. I doubt Barker or Pickett will be there at Dogs 2nd. There's some question marks on Phillipou which is why he could be likely still be there at Dogs 2nd pick.

I did a mock recently and ended up with Oskar & Pickett, though admittedly, if you rule out trades we end up with the 3rd open pool pick in the second round

Is the question marks on Phillipou that he didnt play champs so its a lot more projection rather than performance? He definitely has the physical attributes we are after.

We need this speed endurance mix to also have some aggression, both in style of play (using attributes to take game on) and aggression on contest/tackling.

Hard for me to judge this because I haven't watched them live.
How do J Phillipou/Oskar Taylor measure in these aggression measures?

It seems to me that Taylor Byrne has this in spades but needs to work on endurance.

What is Cummings elite traits? Its not obvious to me when I watch him. Seems to be the exact midfielder the game is moving away from. Mid who cant cover ground and transition from contest to contest.

Defensive intent is probably the biggedt knock on Phillipou.

I don't think Cummings has any. He has good power, is good in a contest and is good overhead. I find it very hard to see any elite traits after pick 7 apart from athletic traits though.
