I'd be happy to go for the best available running type at our first pick - small forward or defender, inside or outside mid.

Second pick we take something we didn't take with our first pick, perhaps lean less towards a small forward given El Souki is ours the following year. There are a couple of "low production" mids who should be around our second selection and I'm more interested in what they can do rather than disposal numbers as an 18 year old.

Will Darcy with our 3rd pick.
Maybe a running defender, depends if El Souki a better prospect than Dovaston?
I've seen Flea is back in the track but man did his knee cause him to miss a lot if footy... the same as a ACL.
Live trade our 2nd to 2026 due to El Souki/West/Cooney and 🤞🤞 🧈

The next Bont?

Riley Onley
State: Victoria Country
State League Club: Murray Bushrangers
Community Club: Shepparton United
Date of Birth: 30/03/2007
Height: 195cm

A tall midfielder, Onley uses his height and reach to excel around stoppages and has a good burst of speed to break the game open. A powerful player who covers the ground extremely well, he divided his playing time this year between Scotch College, the Murray Bushrangers and Victoria Country. Was at his dominant best in the final two games of the National Championships against the Allies and Victoria Metro, with his bursts through the midfield and ball use superb. Onley averaged 23 disposals (9.8 contested), 4.8 marks and four clearances for Victoria Country to win All Australian honours, as well as being named in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year. A graduate of the Marsh AFL National Academy, he missed testing at the Draft Combine due to hamstring injury.
195, crazy fast, huge leap, already very strong/powerful, good enough to be a top midfieler. You'd think those traits could also match a gun KPD...Reasonable chance to be there at our second.

The write-up on Josh Lindsay is giving me Sam Mayes vibes. The last thing we need is someone with question marks over their competitiveness and defensive attributes. Good ball user or not. Much rather an X-factor like NHH at our pick.

Unfortunately most mock drafts have us picking him up, so all we can do is hope for the best if it comes to that.

I could be wrong but a swear there were question marks on Freijah’s competitiveness as well.

I’m confident if we pick him, that our team rates him

Unfortunately as a recruiter you can't make everyone happy. If we take one of Lindsay, O.Taylor, Dovaston NHH or Phillipou on first night I'll be happy.

The more I think about it, NHH is a very bulldog pick, shame he hasn’t tested so we could see his speed / endurance numbers. But on class, he is top calibre if he puts it all together. Could be developed wherever there’s a need for him as well. Could see him being successful as a forward who rotates through mid, wing or half back.

NHH seems like a super talented kid but his being injury prone as a junior is a little worrying.Genuinely could be anything and it might down to just having him working with some sports scientists at VU during the preseason to find the best way of adressing it.

Who would you compare him with ? From the very small research I’ve done he seems similar to cooper hynes ? I’d be all for having 2 powerful units running around in the team if so

Who are you hoping we draft mate ?
Depends where we are picking, im assuming we shift around on draft night. Off of the current picks though the similar to most, two of Dovaston, Byrne, pickett, Kickett, O.Taylor, Lindsay, Thomas and LeRay.
I'd also be happy to trade out one or both of those picks and pick up mature agers like Blamires, Scott, Scoble and Scerri.

Kinda hope not, cause you'd have to take him. He's a gun no doubt, just not our need imo
To my eye he is a 200 gamer without a doubt and ready to go.
Very clean inside with the power to make things happen.
Also love he often pulls the trigger on the difficult kick.

I understand your comment about a need ,but Libber most likely gone in 2026 , he walks straight into the engine room.

The reason Sicily slid into the 50s were question marks about his competitiveness.

The interviews reveal a lot. We had concerns about Macrae too until meeting his family.

Regan smashed the MSD (Sellwood + Walker look like long term players for us) so I’m confident in his ability to identify talent.
