One of NHH, Thredgold or Emmett for us tomorrow surely. North NEED talls, so will be surprised if they do not take one.

So many negative comments on here.

Feeling it is overall not a good place to be.

Folks seem to get fixated on player x and then get the s**ts when we miss them and take someone else. It happened in here when we drafted Bont.

Yep we may have learned a bit of a lesson here. Even if we wanted to trade down, do it on draft night and get a high future 2nd, or multiple 2nds with a few trade downs.

I feel like there were other ways to get Budarick rather than doing the trade down to get 37, but we folded a bit easily.

They have a lot of picks next year for Butters options. I would have liked them getting Merrett. I’m a little worried.

Is Carmichael anymore vanilla than Lindsay? They seem very similar players yet people are so disappointed we didn’t get one over the other?

He’s more dynamic than Lindsay
Not sure about how much of a difference in their athletic profile they are
Not as good as a kick as Lindsay but still a good kick

Tend to agree….. personally I don’t stress too much as I know we all know a lot less than our recruitment and list management team and I think they have done a pretty good job picking great players later in the draft over the years. Think Bailey Dale, Caleb Daniel, Joel Freijah and the list goes on and on. I trust them to get a good player. Carmichael looks like he has a great set of skills and is a high character young man. Will fit in just fine

I'm happy with Carmichael in the end. I'm normally very optimistic and club always knows better than me etc, but I think even they would be sitting back at the moment saying it worked out ok, but we didn't extract anywhere near full value out of having pick 12.

We could have done Budarick for a future pick, out of contract Suns, take it or leave it similar to Crows with Ah Chee.

Even if we wanted Carmichael we go in with 12 and trade down twice like Hawks did and end up with him still and had an extra two 2nd round picks next year, which could have only helped in the Butters chase or for help at KPD...

Anyway, not disastrous but lessen learned hopefully.

Lindsay maybe a longer and more penetrative kick, with a little more run in his legs? Where Carmichael is a more rounded player, better defensively, and more involved in handball link up chains than carrying the ball. He also has decent game IQ, in which in my opinion many players lack these days.

These threads tend to be quite funny to look back on with the benefit of hindsight.

Eg the 2017 draft thread when St Kilda selected Coffield and Clarke, leaving us with the dregs of Aaron Naughton:

I really want Emmett but yeah Thredgold is a nice fall back option too theoretically. Sitting nice with pick 2 on the second night, we will get some decent trade offers for it too probably.

Thank **** thats over. I tuned into AFL.com expecting to see who we'd selected and had to watch 5 whole minutes of the lead up to our selection. The padding from Nat in particular was/is excruciatingly awful.

I pity any of youse who have sat through and watched 2.5 hours of this crap.

The vanilla comments are mostly coming from what we were told a few days ago that we were keen on a “vanilla, moneyball Bolter”

Carmichael will be a good player.

Think we all agreed a key priority is a creative, good ball user out of defence, otherwise its all on Dale. Carmichael provides that, as would of Lindsay. Carmichael is better defensively though, and is very consistent.

A lot of good options at pick 2 tomorrow left. Think I'd like Emmett
