I dont think that Busslinger will see a lot of time at Footscray next year.
Gardner is the perfect kind of solid citizen to help with the development of the likes of Walker, Emmet, Will Darcy and even Croft if as most suspect he is seen as a KPD. Having said that who knows where any of these guys end up playing over the next few years.

Don't mind Matthews, I thought he would only be a rookie at best though. Hardly played this year and is tiny.
Been a strange draft from them.
Gold Coast are playing chess whilst everyone else is playing checkers. Wouldn’t surprise me if Thomas is stockpiled for draft picks when Tassie comes in.

At what point is Darcy free?
In previous years it was pick 56 (based on the discount of the greater of 20% or 197 points).
They've changed the points allocation per pick as well as the % discount, but I'm not sure if the 197 points discount has also changed. If not, it would be no bid matching required after pick 42 (which is 202 points).

As a best fit pick I think Thredgold would have been ideal. Even though we have Busslinger as an intercepting tall, Thredgold is more mobile and would have added great depth to our key back stocks. Having said that, I also believe Emmett could be one of the most exciting players taken in this year's draft. Reminds me a bit of Luke Jackson in terms of athleticism. Very promising talent.

I think they gave up 2x F3s (2026 and 2027 drafts) + pick 52 for pick 34.
