He was cut by the Stingrays. Played U19s at Rowville, then senior footy at Rowville and more than held his own (according to stats).

Then went to Eastern mid season it seems.

I was thinking that sort of meteoric rise is Bont like in his draft year. I'd much prefer him over Greeves, which is a statement thats hopefully not bookmarked for 10 years time.

Twomey and Draft Central were both talking up this kid a week ago so no way any recruiter in the land wouldn't be aware of this kid. He would've never gone to Eastern if he was being hidden.

Having said all of this and hyped him up so much, one dominant game where his team dominates does not guarantee an AFL career.
Sounds like a previous Eastern Ranges flyer, affiliated with GWS Academy, who was talked up late but ultimately went undrafted, only to find his way to little old St.Kilda through the midseason draft a few short years later!

Came here to mention him after looking at CTL stats. He's obviously got some impressive traits considering he got a combine invite after a handful of games.

Reads like Sam Lalor without knowing much about him, amazing that he was cut from the Stingrays squad. That alone shows belief and persistence.

In an underwhelming draft, he could just be diamond in the rough!

Edit: the more I see of this guy the more I like. There's no guarantee that we'd have our first, but if it falls in the 20s he looks like he could be anything.
Sam Swadling 187cm Mid. from WA, recently had a 49 disposal game coming back from lnjury.
Wonder if he's worth a look too.

I wouldn't worry too much about an early bid on Fincher. Academy bids usually come later than you'd expect, and its generally a sliding scale. So if a pick should go 5, they go 7 or 8, and if they should go 30, its usually like 40-50. Unless something wild happens, very little chance Fincher gets bid on before 35.

Also I should say I know nothing about nothing, this is just what you tend to see.

Charlie Orchard- Dandy Stingrays
Played 5 games for Sandy Zebs
Kicked 8 goals
3 times in the best.

DANDENONG STINGRAYS:

#6
Charlie Orchard
Tall Defender | 190cm | 17/06/2006

Stats:
14 disposals, 3 marks, 4 rebound 50s

Round 11: A difficult player to beat at his best, Orchard and his fellow Dandenong defenders had plenty of repelling to do. The over-ager utilised his aerial range to impact contests before following up at ground level to recover the ball and rebound. He distributed well off the last line and provided repeat running efforts to advance the play further afield. Orchard also slotted a late consolation goal on the fly after being paid advantage from a free kick.

Note: He has been used forward lately and kicked 3 snags last weekend.

Marlion Pickett's son Latrell is an interesting bolter. Kicked 4 goals in a SANFL senior game recently.

Talked up massively in his under-age year, and then I think got injured last year in his U18. Overeager this year, interesting to see if he gets picked up.
