Hoffman and the lockdown keyback that both passed on didn’t look good enough to me either to warrant a list position.

Fincher on the other hand has something, that 1 VFL game I watched him play was super impressive, playing in the midfield as well.

Funny enough Geelong fans were talking up Lenny in the preseason suggesting they got an absolute steal. I rate Fincher. I don’t think he looks any worse than a bulk of the first round fancies.

So as things stand...

IF we take ONE pick at the National Draft then I believe this is a possible permutation for changes to our list:

Senior: Fincher, Caminiti, Hall
Rookie: Byrnes, rookie draft pick, Wanganeen/SSP, one spot open for the MSD

IF we take TWO picks at the National Draft:

Senior: Fincher, national draft pick, Caminiti
Rookie: Byrnes, Wanganeen/SSP, one spot open for the MSD
Tex Wanganeen is, at this stage, just going to be a train on player & needs to impress to get a list spot

Sounds like we grab Fincher then assess if there is anyone we like left at the end.
I think we go the other way and see who is left after pick 10 and before the Fincher bid.

The knock is that there is no superstar talent and then a very even 20 or so before a huge drop in talent.

Regardless of how impressive he is or isn’t, I would give him a rookie list spot.

If…

Nas agrees to extend his contract for another 8 years 😃

Joey is Jonah Campigli.

Tex wouldn't be the first talented player that 'noone else' wants, noone wanted our probable 2026 captain for 4 years either.
Wilke was at least playing footy at a higher level , not some Amo's club , just a little difference

Yeah hence the /SSP

I don’t rate him but if it meant keeping Nas then don’t mind it
Yeah but I reckon one of the delisted boys would be pretty dirty that a stable pony has taken his spot.

Delisted boy dirty & Nas happy v delisted boy happy & Nas unhappy? 🤔

My happiness is tied to Nas’s happiness and if that means el delisto is dirty then I can live with that.

I agree but a bit selfish on NAS part stealing a young mans dream just to gift his undeserving cousin a spot.

Is there really that much to it. If they wanted to they could live in the same house, sleep in the same bed. Do they really need to play for the same football team.?

Seems like we picked the right draft to trade out of. The future second for Boxshall is looking fantastic.

It's a real hit or miss type of draft. No real stand outs but might actually mean players taken in the 20s end up being the best in the draft types. At this stage Boxshall looks way out in front still. If our pick gets another Danger we'll all be whining about it still.

St Kilda NGA product Kye Fincher is projected to go around the Pick 30-40 range which the Saints are expected to match - Cal Twomey
If that range turns out to be correct, it's another example of why Geelong's last minute offer made zero sense from our perspective since pick 40 would give us nothing we arent already going to get.

To bring Fincher in for basically nothing would complete a very successful off season. While he's not a top end talent, he showed something worth developing in that VFL game and thats more then you can say for a lot of this draft pool.

If we look at it by the numbers.
2025 1stRDP in a shit draft probably #P24ish not acceptable with any amount of extras other than a 2026 FRDP #P17ish

Picks 17 & 24 might be a bit overs but no more than you might say we did for Neddy and the 3rdRDPs really held no value to our plans.

Ro is contracted and we wanted to keep him so the pre trade period narrative of "it would need to be a very good offer" turned out to be true and it really was Geelong just trying to be too cute that scuppered the whole thing.
