Someone fishing?
Was keen on Smillie last year just because we need to replace Steele and Macrae sooner rather than later.I think I'll jump on Greeves for us this year solely on a needs basis. Seems to play within himself and has excellent ground coverage for a big inside mid, hence his high disposal numbers.
Tiz a very uninspiring group this year.

Absolute comedyThe National Draft is dead. Absolute raffle these days for clubs such as ours
Just watch at draft time when all those "journos" who have been saying the club should stop whinging and just do better, start saying oohh the drafts so compromised, the AFL should do something to fix it.The National Draft is dead. Absolute raffle these days for clubs such as ours
Farking hell, obvs it’s just a mock, but as it stands our pick 4 turned to pick 8.
West coast and Richmond with 2 of the top 4 picks each, Brisbane with another freebie (& Oscar Allen), and Gold Coast with 2 matches is ridiculous.
As for our pick, don’t mind the Greeve’s archetype. Should be looking for a 1/2 punch type mid to go with Phillipou.
Need another high ceiling game changing mid prospect, as a lot of our other players running through the middle seem to be at their best more hybrid players (e.g. trav, wilson, nas) or workhorses (garcia, boxshall). Not to put them in a box, but if you look at past teams Melbourne (petracca, Oliver, viney) dogs (bont, libba, macrae) Brisbane (Neale, Dunkley, McCluggage), etc you can see how important getting a good variety is within those three stalwart mids before the others run through.
Phillipou has all the tools to be that leader in the middle, Garcia as a libba type is shaping up very nicely, but who’s the third from our kids? That’s the type of player I’d love to draft.
His kicking isn't bad. No chance of being a Dunny type. Greeves is definitely a better athlete than Smillie and looks a slightly more reliable pick. Very meat and potatoes type of mid.Was keen on Smillie last year just because we need to replace Steele and Macrae sooner rather than later.
Th Saints strategy has been run with Wilson, Travaglia, NAZ, Hastie, Boxshall etc.
I like a 2027/2028 ( in a perfect world)of Pou and Greeves as our primary inside mids with our runners above running through the mids as well.
He is not pacey but seems a likely ball pig. Kicking is a ???, and we don't want another Dunstan.
If it is a draft, why are they not available to the club that has the draft pick to select them? There are some players that aren't available in the draft. Pick 4 is still pick 4 of players that are available to all clubs. The players that will be there at our pick look like bing very good.
Oscar Allen looks cooked. Doubt he's getting pick 2 for anyone.
Dylan Patterson would be so perfect for usThere are some players that aren't available in the draft. Pick 4 is still pick 4 of players that are available to all clubs. The players that will be there at our pick look like bing very good.

Back the fk off Kaifu!!Dylan Patterson would be so perfect for us
I mentioned this a few weeks back about some of our previous draftees and if the Northern Academy system was operational (like today) from the late 90sI think what’s most wild is the guys we’ve picked in the past who would have been in ‘academies’
Riewoldt
Kozi
Tauru
Gresham
Marshall
Savage
Just off the top of my head
Tauru wasn't an academy pick. Also Marshall was an overage rookie pick and Savage we traded for.I think what’s most wild is the guys we’ve picked in the past who would have been in ‘academies’

Ro and Savage would have been NGA eligible if they existed though, or at least I assume that's what the original post was getting at.Tauru wasn't an academy pick. Also Marshall was an overage rookie pick and Savage we traded for.
Roo is a great example though. Looking at Brisbane and Gold Coast getting more multiple top ten picks this year, the system is utterly broken.
Yes but Tauru in today’s system would have developed through hawthorn’s academy.Tauru wasn't an academy pick. Also Marshall was an overage rookie pick and Savage we traded for.

I don't think that's the case with Tauru. If he'd been born overseas he'd have been eligible.Yes but Tauru in today’s system would have developed through hawthorn’s academy.
Just needs one parent to be born overseas.I don't think that's the case with Tauru. If he'd been born overseas he'd have been eligible.
has to be a country in Asia, Africa or Oceania though. hence Tauru not eligible as his father was born in Sweden.Just needs one parent to be born overseas.
Then how did Geelong steal that one that was eligible to us? He was born in Finlandhas to be a country in Asia, Africa or Oceania though. hence Tauru not eligible as his father was born in Sweden.
Hawks also missed out on Moraes whose dad is from the renowed Aussie rules powerhouse of Brazil. A bit of karma for stealing Mackenzie perhaps
Yes if the player is born overseas they are eligible. Then how did Geelong steal that one that was eligible to us? He was born in Finland
