I think we’re being legit and in the process sending a warning messageWhat’s everyone opinion on the fincher bid. Do you think we have just said we won’t over stretch to put people off from bidding?
I think it's as straight bat as it comes. Our position and thoughts on this years draft have been pretty transparent. What’s everyone opinion on the fincher bid. Do you think we have just said we won’t over stretch to put people off from bidding?

Says we are taking Byrnes in the ND.
He doesn’t look the quickest. But does have a bit of a midfielder look about him if he develops the tank.Peucker would be a good pick - SA’s best pressure small forward and has tricks. Good long-term Butler replacement imo
Will be an immediate fan favourite if he lands at Moorabbin - I can already imagine the track watchers frothing over his energy and enthusiasm
What a flex, the kid is Jevan's teammate! He doesn’t look the quickest. But does have a bit of a midfielder look about him if he develops the tank.

Lenny was generally touted as a rookie pick but obviously the cats saw a bit more in him. We of course took Harry Boyd for 'needs', but at p60 we also took Pat Said over Lenny by choice so it's on Dalrymple if things don't pan out.Geelong was talking Hoffman up after last preseason saying that he had massive potential to be special.
pretty poor from the club imo, regarding treatment of Said. Worse then Aleer imo.The other noteworthy element was that Said has been delisted and will be rookied.
I don't think it needs to be said and it's just part of the media circus. I still haven't seen convincing evidence that we'll lose 1stRD points but if it is the case then probably no club would sacrifice them for a player like Fincher. What’s everyone opinion on the fincher bid. I actually heard he wasn't busting a gut to come to us. Might be a bit of indifference going both waysWhat’s everyone opinion on the fincher bid. Do you think we have just said we won’t over stretch to put people off from bidding?
More likely he can't invest given the circumstances and he'd be last in line of a young group.I actually heard he wasn't busting a gut to come to us. Might be a bit of indifference going both ways

National draftees from pick 21 onwards get a minimum 2 year contractSo with Said being delisted we will have three picks plus the Caminiti upgrade.
Sounds like Byrnes is getting redrafted in the National Draft.
You know the draft is god awful when that's occurring.
You can be delisted under contract. Means it remains in your cap irrespective of the player is on a list.National draftees from pick 21 onwards get a minimum 2 year contract
So how can Said have been delisted when he was drafted last year?
Just an awful draft. Maybe it plays out better than that, but it’s hard to be enthusiastic about much of the first round.God damn that's a terrible looking first round. Gives me huge 2012 vibes (that's the year we got Lee, right?)
Imagine being Essendon and taking 3 tops ten picks to the draft only to end up with Taylor, Sharp, and Dovaston. Not saying that they can't be good, but my lord can you think of three less exciting top 10 picks? Probably Reid, Cox and Perkins lol.
Imagine being North and picking up Latrel Pickett with another top ten picks! Like, come on now.
Happy we traded our for Flanders! There's isn't a non-academy or f/s player projected to be drafted accept maaaaaybe Duursma, CDT and Robey that I'd prefer over Neddy boy.
A trade would make sense to delist both Byrnes and said and relist them.based on Cal's phantom, I think our picks should come into roughly 39, 46 & 54
prior to pick 50:
10 picks added - Uwland, Patterson, Murray (GC), Dean, Ison (Car), Annable (Bris), Kyle, Carmichael (Syd), Williams (WC), Sweid (Ess)
21 picks removed - GC x8, Car x5, Bris x3, Sydney x3, WC x2
plenty of variables. not sure how Essendon match Sweid or what Sydney will do if a bid also comes for King. also who knows whether McCarthy attracts a bid for Pies. and whether those clubs matching will require all their picks to do so
Greeves, Ludowyke, King, NHH, Phillipou, Byrne feels like the next "tier" of the draft after Cal's 30. To be able to pick one of them before a Fincher bid would be ideal
maybe we target Sydney's pick 42 (which will be ~36) + 5th rounder for our first two picks, which will help them a bit with points and get us into the frame for those players above. not beyond the realms of possibility that we get Phillipou and Fincher without having to dip into futures at all
LeRay, Wright, Rodriguez, Oudshorn-Bennier, McCarthy, Onley, Swadling, Allen are also around this mark, I've probably missed some others too. plenty of options even if we hold our picks. what the draft lacks at the top end, it will make up for in the 30s IMO
