Eagles are looking at
pick 1 CDT
Pick 2 trade to gc before academies
Eagles love to split early first round picks
Eagles are very keen on rodriguez

It's critical we finish lower than essendon although probably isn't likely
Currently
Pick 4 saints
Pick 5 essendon
Pick 6 essendon (Draper trade FA)
Pick 7 essendon (dees trade)

It is highly likely we secure Pick 6 and after academies be Pick 10
Lucky there isn't a huge difference between a player at pick 5 And pick 10 this year imo

Look at what the coach and recruiters have been targeting:

Running capacity
Positional flexibility
Kicking skills
Leadership/Alpha mentality

To me that points to Sam Grlj or Josh Lindsay with our first pick, after we make 5 straight NGA bids of course.

Grlj just givens me Jones vibes, quick and frantic that can butcher the ball. He hasn't lit up the champs as you'd want for a top 10 picks either
definitely more Zak Jones than Zak Butters for mine as well. he has a few Butters attributes but Butters also has incredible poise, vision, creativity, great ball use and is hard as a cat's head - hence why he is amongst the top few mids in the comp. i've seen Grlj step around a few blokes but none of that other stuff

I highly doubt anyone pays Draper enough to warrant Band 1 compo. If I'm guessing the top 10 and the end of year finishing possie, I'd go:

Pick 1 (WC): CDT
Pick 2 (GC via trade): Duursma
Pick 3 (GC Academy): Uwland
Pick 4 (Rich): Sharp
Pick 5 (Rich via trade): Lindsay
Pick 6 (Ess): Schubert
Pick 7 (Bris FS): Annable
Pick 8 (GC Academy): Patterson
Pick 9 (Stk): Greeves
Pick 10 (Ess via trade): Grlj

There is so much variation though this year, and I think probably the only year where you can pick for needs in the top 10 because no one seems to be standing out. I just hope we end up with one of Sharp, Greeves or Duursma.

If we want a quick & powerful mid, Cumming is our guy. Greeves would be a Steele type.

He's going to be a really good player for anyone that decides to pick him up. He's a bit smaller (around 183cm) than Mattaes but he's a brilliant athlete that would tick a lot of boxes for our list. Jevan has a decathlon background, which probably contributes to his explosion around the contest and ability to cover the ground really well.

Breaking his arm earlier this season stopped him getting exposure in the U18s, but I am sure recruiters know that he's got every quality to play at the top level. Captain at Woodville West-Torrens, athlete and can play football. Make it happen Rymple.

Reckon Pou will be late first, will be better players available. If he traded Ro/Steele we might target with that pick
Let me put it this way. There is zero chance if they gave them infinite life that Sharp will ever be a better AFL footballer than the little master J Phillipou. One has elite athletic traits. Can play in all three areas of the ground and is the thing clubs look for more than anything these days absolute maximum damage with the ball in his hand. This is due to both decision making and execution either side of the body. The other is an inside mid albeit a very elite junior inside mid.

big wrap, hopefully you I mean he makes it through to our pick

I liked grilj early in the year but he scares me. Really high bust vibes so I'd stay clear. Still unsure about Greeves also, whether he is just a big boy dominating smaller bodies in under 18s. Duursma Just doesn't do it for me, I could be completely off but don't think hell become a mid at the next level. Sam cumming looks to be the one cumming (pardon) with a bullet and would compliment our young midfield perfectly, but he may be gone before we pick. If NAS leaves Lindsay would have to be close to the top of our list with his kicking skills

Any chance we can get an elite KPF rather than a mid this draft?

Definitely possible that we take Ludowyke but doubt it.I still think we should look at Gruzewski and Wardius from GWS as a package. Both can't get past GWS's stacked forward line. It would provide an instant scoring impact.

Rodriguez looks pretty good too but not having a great season.

I am going to be slightly biased towards SA talent as I get to see them every week, but Sam Cumming is looking like a real good prospect in this year's draft - I wouldn't be upset if we picked him up. I got to watch Sam play his second league game for North last weekend due to my involvement with South Adelaide, and he was clearly his side's best player. In a team full of former AFL-listed players, he racked up 21 disposals, five marks, five tackles, five clearances, and three goals in a loss. He is a good size, uses the ball well by hand and foot and fits a positional needed as a midfielder who can hit the scoreboard. Sam also won the U18 SANFL MVP in his underage year against some handy players who are now on AFL lists.

I think he is our guy. But I think he'll end up top 5

He's either an erratic Zac Jones or an absolute jet. I reckon he has absolute star or absolute flop kid of vibes. If it comes off he's got really fast twitch movement and pace. They are so hard to find these types, if you do enough due diligence and have some balls he could be an absolute champion.

I like Cumming but he does't look powerful to me. More clean in traffic type with neat skills and decent vision. He looks a super safe bet. I can imagine him being a 200 game good to excellent mid.

I'm not sold on Greeves at all.

It will be interesting where Sam ends up in the draft because he has been handy, without being outstanding during this year's champs and Academy games. However, I have no doubt he makes it at the level. He has the traits to play as a mid, and is also a really handy half-forward as well.

Personally, I think there are several value picks from SA this year. Players like Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier could be bargains for clubs. Next year is going to be a real good year for SA too - plenty of good mids.

I'd prefer Cam MacKenzie over most of these 5-8 Greeves/Cumming/Grlj types tbh. We'll probably win 3-4 more games to finish the season and end up with pick ~8

Its so even from 5-15. Trade Marshall, get a pick 15ish and draft MiniPou. He's got as much upside as these 5-8 guys

If we really want a bull mid in the mould of Greeves, Riley Only 194cm should be available in the second round if we can get a pick there
