The draft night/s are going to be a quiet affair for Dalrymple, unless we can find a couple of picks at some stage. Pick #50 wont even cover a Fincher bid if we in fact intend to match it.

I'm assuming that someone asked Dalrymple what picks in this years draft are worth, and he handed them a bag of Nobby's Nuts.

Do we only have one list spot to fill now ??.
I reckon we will retain Hall on the Rookie List, and take Fincher, upgrade Caminiti, and let the Rymp have a crack with one late speculative.

I'd love to **** over Collingwood and draft Thomas McGuane. Collingwood have been playing funny buggers with him as a father son all year, huge fall from grace after an AA U18 year as an under-age last year.

Pies have committed to him in the Rookie draft, so he is a free hit for any team in the National Draft.

I haven't seen such blatant draft tampering for quite some time.

Matches our newfound attitude to ruffle as many feathers as possible.

A Silvagni and a McGuane in one off season.

As seen Rymp will be hovering over the whole affair with an eye to jumping back into this draft if there's something he likes. Also the opportunity to get involved with other trades and strengthen our hand.

There won't be much jumping back in with the minimum list spots, but no doubt we will pull the trigger on a futures trade if there is something we like.

What are the chances we lose out on Kye Fincher in this draft?

If we do rate him we will match any bids that won't be an issue. I doubt this draft goes out much further than 50-60 so there will be clubs looking to cash in their later picks.

It's a common belief there is not huge depth in the draft, but I still would have liked to have seen Dalrymple given the chance of making a selection before Fincher.

I don't think we will resign Byrnes until after the draft. In case we do get another targetted kid or we can do a pick swap to get back in somewhere. Last year we used pick swaps exceptionally well.

As it stand, it's looking like we take Fincher and one other then upgrade a rookie. List spots remain tight, but we still have some flexibility between the rookie and main list so anything can happen on draft night.

We overlooked all our academy boys last year so very possible. Dalrymple seems quite unsentimental.

I still want Talor Byrne. Reminds me of Zorko with a bit of Ginnivan.

Agree he peaked my interest mid year, he has a bit of attitude about him also which I liked.

Picking when he might go is difficult because if he was 10cm's taller he'd be top 20. Either way he would be definitely worth a later pick to work as a small forward.

This could either be an extremely flattering comparison or a really mean one

Actually the good bits of Zorko and being small his head gets grabbed more than most. Plenty of frees for high contact so I think he's perfected angling his head into spots to draw contact. Scores heavily too.

I’m tipping this is our shortest draft thread in history.

There's always a chance but l don't see that we wouldn't take Fincher. He's gone from possible rookie to a rough consensus p30 and is a dule position competitive animal with decent skills. Ross probably has a hard-on for him right now.

I like him too. We should make him our draft mascot since there's little else to root for now.

I would be floored if we didn't take Fincher. Our first pick at around 50 will come in a fair way, a mid second rounder with be discounted a fair bit thanks to the fixed discount after the first round.

We'll either flog off one of those future 3rds to get points or we'll go into a tiny deficit. Either way, Kye looks a beauty and I look forward to having him in our colours.

The decision to play Fincher in the midfield in his VFL game when the u18 coaches weren't playing him there indicates we rate him as more then a half back and that our interest was high.

I'd be shocked if we didnt take him. I wouldnt be surprised if he was our only draftee and we use the other spots for summer train ons.

What if the bid comes in at 20. Think the club will still match?

at least we'll have a few picks in the rookie draft. given how much time he has on his hands, I'm expecting nothing less than the equivalent of Wilkie, Sinclair and Marshall

(or Tex Wanganeen, Todd Goldstein and Campigli)
Voss could be a goer. How many lost spots do the Saints have left? I’m counting Byrnes at this current stage.
