Hypothetically, we should have gone Caddy instead of Sullivan that year anyway
I’d still have taken Sullivan if he was available

We were into DGB tooSwans were heavily into him in his draft year
Bad call
Here are some "ifs" that will have an enormous impact on our trade/draft period. If:
1) Warner re-signs (or not of course).
2) Rampe, Adams, Cunningham, Lloyd, Hamling, Fox retire.
3) Edwards and Snell reach full AFL standard. Francis remains handy depth.
4) Buller reaches full AFL standard.
5) McCartin comes good as a forward.
6) Sheldrick, Corey, Campbell, Hanily, Dattoli, Mitchell, Cleary, Paton, Bice reach full AFL standard. I'm assuming Andrew, Bowman, Kirk and Leidler won't yet. A fair number won't get the chance to show it.
7) Anyone requests a trade. Hard to see it but maybe Gus?
The decision tree that grows out of those is enormous let alone what happens with our likely 4 academy boys and the draft under the new rules. Huge headache!
That's the way build a big lead before the big dayI’d still have taken Sullivan if he was available

Sorry recruiting teamAre we talking about the selectors? Week to week. Coaching group mainly.
Or the recruiting team?
Can we say they got it wrong when they have made 2 grand finals in 3 years- yes they shat the bed but you can't get crap lists to the big one.
Yes we can. Look at our depth vs other contenders. Talented list for sure but zero depth. Making a GF is an outpeform - fact is we can’t even point to any senior guy under pressure from the ressies. Florent discussion confirms this. Can we say they got it wrong when they have made 2 grand finals in 3 years- yes they shat the bed but you can't get crap lists to the big one.
Is that because of our recruitment success ? Hence the point of the thread. I give Recruiters zero credit for academy picks. Please regale me with our first round champions over the years. And we've had a level of sustained success over the past decade and a half that's the envy of nearly every club in the league. That's not an accident.
Ridiculous thread.
How are you measuring it? Gulden, Campbell and Stephens all played inside in their draft year.If you look back im pretty sure Mills is the 5th more recent complete inside midfielder we drafted and he was a decade ago.
- Caiden Cleary
- Angus Sheldrick
- Chad Warner
- James Rowbottom
- Callum Mills
- George Hewett
- Tom Mitchell
- Luke Parker
I may have missed a couple of players that didn't kick on (as I am a youngster) but thats it for pure on ballers in the last 17 years, 8 players across 17 years is pathetic
