Hopefully Max does us an favour and only goes at about 70%.
Does he really need to? His stocks have been falling rapidly anyway.

Not gonna lie i don't watch any academy games, rely on mostly what i hear on here - i was super excited on what i was hearing but the way he has been losing value makes me think its too good to be true.

If we're serious at all we would be getting into the ear of any of the academy kids we're guaranteed to be picking up and telling them to go at 50-70% all year long. It's exactly what Geelong would be doing.

Not suggesting that we are, but we definitely should be.

Geelong wouldn’t do that. They would just tell the others to tank their interviews like Tom Stewart!!

Deplorable and clearly draft tampering..

If I was one of those kids, I wouldn't be trusting possibly my entire AFL dream on the club saying "don't worry, we'll definitely take you even if no-one bids". I'd like them to say, nah, I only know one way and that's giving 110%.

“This is the difference between a team of c**** and a team of good guys,”

“But the story of football is that the teams of good guys, they never win.

“So f*ing hell. Be a c*.”

Aside from Carmichael, I don't think any of our guys had great national champs, a couple of individual games where one or two stood out. King did look promising in the VFL though, aside from some wayward kicking in his first game.

It was interesting listen to SEN this morning with Kane Cornes discussing what he thought fair value for Petracca was.

Initially pick 7 he was happy with, but it became a couple of picks.

Petracca is the same age as Curnow, a Norm Smith Medallist and big game player, and also contracted.

Yet, the commentary surrounding Curnow was that if it was Sydney, they have to demand one of Heeney, Warner, Gulden and Blakey as well as a pick. Or 2 picks and a best 22 player.

My thought is that a player of Petracca's ilk and proven big game ability is worth more than Curnow.

Yep, those kicks killed us, but they happened most often when he was either coming back from his leg injury or when he tried to bite off more than he could chew with a pass. If he simply played to his strength of lobbing the ball onto a leading chest then we wouldn't be having this discussion.
No they weren't! 🤣 Most of them were when he was jogging unopposed at around 60-70m out from goal, clear space ahead of him and with a forward on the lead.

So many times this season he was under little to no pressure when executing those kicks and they still managed to find the grass within 10m of the ball being kicked.

Noah Chamberlain's favourite playier is Tom Atkins? I like the kid already!

Get him into the V PavCox, that's a kid with the right attitude!
He’s a diehard cats fan, asked who he’d go for in a granny between swans and cats he said cats.
Looks like a good player though.

I can't help but throw the Haywood/Curnow story into the Yearly Trade Talk Ballyhoo Bucket.

Some reporter throws a hypothetical at unsuspecting player, then reported as if player initiated topic.

Too many reporters with task of having to say something so, report drivel.

Then punters think if it's print it must be true and, lose their minds.

It's an entertaining time of year.

Yep. The only player that's been floated that doesn't leave a hole to fill is Florent (maybe McLean if for Curnow, but then you'd struggle for a 2nd ruck). If you're not replacing these guys with their equivalent, we're robbing one area to improve another. You can make a good case that say Petracca coming in means a mid could leave as part of that, for the short term boost, but getting Curnow for one or more of Hayward, Jmac, Rowbottom would hurt us elsewhere and would also need to be addressed.
True, but if we end up trading for Oliver then we could offer up a Rowbottom or JMac without leaving a hole in the list.

Theyre probably considering both scenarios.

I just hope the Carlton trade involves Florent. Would much prefer that to losing Hayward.

For arguments sake, if we lose Hayward, who realistically takes his role?

If we still had Parker on the list he'd be a reasonable replacement for Hayward.

Well that's what I meant with getting Petracca, it would mean that any lost mid might not be noticed, at least as much. Same with other players.

You're right re: Hayward, putting Heeney or Mills forward would just hurt us elsewhere, especially if the aim is to boost midfield by having both Heeney and Petracca there a fair bit.

Age is a factor, I don't think you can say that a guy who'll be 33 is a replacement for a guy who'll be 27. There's 6 years that he won't be, and possibly starting very soon. Parker isn't/wasn't the equivalent up the ground either.

Problem is the injury that Petracca had lowered his value, plus his contract is significantly more than Curnows.

There is also the key position forward tax

Is there any part of list management Geelong haven't tampered with?

Seems like the type of team that would get a consultancy firm in to figure out every potential way of rorting the system. And then implement it to the letter.
