We didn’t hamstring ourselves at all.
We were flexible enough to get more points (and the best possible future) when we needed to.

How did we hamstring ourselves? We have known for a bit now that Dean bid was coming early and were always going to trade out of 9 and 11 because of that to give us points and something for next year's strong draft. If we were confident he was going to be bid on closer to 9 we probably would have just taken the drift of 11 and stayed where we were.
