Two things can be true at the same time
Yeah, maybe if you want to make it a story i guess, I'm just going off personal experience my youngest son used to do the same thing, would drive his nannas crazy when trying to take family photos lol

Also, he was emotional, kids are allowed to get emotional when drafted, they have worked hard to get selected.

I think we have a clear issue in WA talent pathways. There was 1 WA player drafted last night & 6 QLD players, great for QLD footy but for a traditional state it’s bad. You can see it in the state of origin squad as well & it’s probably even worst in an under 21 sense.

If state of Origin sticks around, over the next 5 years or so, a Queensland state of origin team would be a more viable prospect than a WA State of Origin team.

The success of northern academies is great don’t get me wrong but think it’s highlighting the issue that nobody else is talking about around talent coming from WA & SA at the moment

What's the deal with WA talent? Traditional AFL state but produces what seems like far less talent than Victoria or even what comes out of South Australia.

I dont know if the bolded is correct, but it just appears that way at face value.

Looked like a proof of life photo for Grlj. Where do his parents have to drop the money to get him back?

Incompetence of the highest order. When are they going to announce these changes? The day before the 26' draft?

I'm OK with it if it's just a reduction on the discount, and they're not packaging it up with that whole "two picks only" idea. A discount is unnecessary, and in terms of a club needing to "adapt" to it at shorter notice the worst case is needing to secure an extra 300pts if you're matching a bid at Pick 1 - the equivalent of Pick 37.

On principle this should have been locked in a month ago, but might be that they just wanted to see how R1 played out last night to determine whether they were happy to limit the changes to removing the discount. Not to mention it does allow them to make it look like they're responding to GC getting a bunch of good players. AFL House loves optics.

I've got a bit of faith that we will get someone good if we don't have to use our next pick on Ison. Generally top 30 picks are where the good players reside. I think Wright has come over and given our recruiters some real direction. What traits to look for and look out for. I think it will be a tall who can mark overhead or a smaller player who can kick and has decent pace and agility. I've got more faith in our recruiters than I have in a long time so hopefully we get to use our next pick on who we want.

What's the appeal with LeRay? Haven't seen any of him, so curious moreso than skeptical - though I'll not that in that video his kicking technique looks horrendous. Is he one of those "weird but effective" types, or is he gonna have issues at the higher speed of senior footy?
LeRay was the other U18 All Australian winger for 2025. The other was Harley Barker. Can play in any part of the ground, dual-sided, tough enough. Would be capable of playing in and around the clearances and he puts on more size.

No one is perfect when we reach this point of the draft.
