Smart move really - at the end of the day if all we want out of this draft is Dean and ison stockpiling picks next year is a wise move. 2 firsts and 2 seconds will give us enough ammunition to get Cody no matter what the AFL throws at us you’d think. It might be overs for Cody but I don’t think the club can pass on it purely from an optics perspective … he looks a generational talent

All this pick swapping and at the end of the day in 5 years we’ll look at it as Charlie and TDK for Harry Dean and Cody Walker. It’s not fair given what others have got their father sons for but Charlie wanted out, TDK took the money and the picks we get has give us access to top 5 talent.

I’d seriously consider taking the AFL to court if they change the rules too much from this year given the lack of competitive fairness and how it disproportionally affects us next year however these moves protect from the worst situation you would think. We have 7 picks across first and second rounds in the next 2 drafts correct me if I’m wrong? That should be enough to trade up for Cody whatever the rules plus get more players drafted and trades done.

Been a good period given the outs and what we’ve had to plan for which we don’t know what that is… a joke in itself … the AFL is incompetent.

Coops have you seen what Hawthorn has done. Given this years draft was week, teams would have had to give up more to get into the 1st round this year.

We went and traded pick 21 to hawthorn only to give it all up to Sydney. They were so desperate for Curnow we didn’t need to give them anything back.

And thats fine but why didnt we use the pick 28 when there were some good players still left. We got GC 2026 2nd round but they will finish at the top end of the ladder next year.

Sorry but posts like this annoy me. Do you think our list management team insisted on giving Sydney picks back in the Curnow deal?

It went through with about a minute on the clock, the deal we got is the absolute best and final offer.

We also don’t know where Gold Coast will finish next year. It’s speculation.

I understand some people are pessimistic but stating your fears as facts is just wrong
