Wouldn’t be opposed to picking up McGuane as a (rookie list) f/s prospect and having him string up 200-odd games at the blues

Given we paid 1st and 4th round picks to get all of 3 games from Mcguane senior, would be good to improve the return on investment from some 30 years ago…
McGuane will be lucky to play a game. Not a need for us at all.

That is so much amateur hour. They have WC gift pick in front of our end of first. Nah. Let alone some misguided picks. So much of the media stuff is more “out there” than the Big Footy nuffie projections on here.
Zero Hanger have some articles that read like they've been spat out by ChatGPT, but in particularly their advertising content is almost overwhelming within the context of a single article page.

I wouldn't take them seriously at all.

It still wouldn’t, because even under the current system, we will need the points
Teams would offer us a lot for our 2026 first if Curnow leaves as they'd expect us to drop dramatically on the ladder and its a very weak draft.

No reason we wouldn't be able to split the pick for points in 2026 as well as a mid 20s pick to get Dovaston if we were desperate to get him.

Personally not that big a fan of him compared to other smalls in previous years but it would be very doable if the AFL delayed the rule changes.

If rules don't change... we still keep our first...

especially if we lose Charlie ffs... we'll be bottom 3... and even if we're not, that 1st pick can always be moved next year...

Would be the dumbest thing this football club does if they trade our F1 this year. Thankfully, not even they can screw that up!

We'll be getting assets back for Charlie, and no... I can't see us being worse than WCE, North, Essendon, Richmond, Dees etc.

Who's etc?

The bulk of the return for Charlie will be draft picks... sure Hayward will help, but he's not kicking, say 60 goals.

North are a chance to leapfrog us. Dees are very similar to us, 50/50 who finishes above who at this stage.

Like I said, even if you're right and we don't finish bottom 3, it will still be an early pick and we can still trade it next year... so the point stands that it would be extremely dumb to trade it this year... unless we get a godfather offer (which we won't).

You've been deathriding us for months so I'm not really interested in going over the same arguments over and over. Imo theres no chance of us getting an extra pick along with Cody so if no changes are made to the DVI we'd be able to trade that pick back and potentially target a slider in this draft if we deemed them a suitable target. Likelihood is that won't happen so the argument is irrelevant anyway.

I have my opinion, you have your own.

Being based about where our list is, isn't death riding...

Saying that we should strategise to take full advantage of next year's draft isn't death riding either.

Wanting to finish 13th instead of 18th to preserve some imaginary winning cultcha that hasn't existed at this place for the better part of the last 25 years only serves to weaken our position to reset the list quicker.

Writing is on the wall with Voss... as it is with most of the playing group...

End of 26 season, we will be hunting for a new coach, and we will be looking to off load a lot of the 30+ year olds.

As I said, I have no interest going over this again.

So, Charlie makes Sydney a flag favourite... but losing him doesn't drop us a few spots on the ladder?
...And if we do finish higher on the ladder, it makes trading our first rounder that year even sillier given the Cody Walker situation.

People don't realise that to make an omelette, you have to break a few eggs, then when they want to make another omelette they wonder where the eggs went. Moral of the story - it's imperative we trade Charlie for more 'eggs'.

It’s not imperative.
And it also doesn’t mean that you have to trade him in advance for more eggs. We could just trade him next year if we need to.

Mick would have less incentive to slag us off in his column if his son was on the list.

Its worth noting that 90% of people on here have zero clues as to what is going on... This time last year we were all jizzing over Sid Draper, with many 'shattered' when we took Jagga ahead of Sid.. 1 year on I don't think anyone is wishing that, despite Jagga missing the entire season.
