Analysis 2025 Draft watch

We can match the Geelong offer as they will not offer anything near the $1.7m from St Kilda, as Geelong's offer is likely to be similar to our offer, may need a third club involved to accept a offer from Geelong as pick 15 in this draft is not worth much.
More likely he is going to the Saints.
yeah - if he goes to geelong then we will be getting more than one first rounder

Article on ACC schools prospects, mentions our Gresham.

TOP PROSPECTS

Not in the elite talent pathway, Nicholas Staropoli has wowed onlookers with his athleticism and marking. Staropoli is an ex-high jumper with a phenomenal leap who has developed at a rate of knots in the past year. He stood out in St Bernard’s opening round loss to St Joseph’s.

SOunds like we should be prepared to trade up to get this kid, has everything we need.

Will not be at all surprised if he is there at our TDK compo pick. Not overly contested. His disposal is a weapon, but if he does excel early, will be sat upon and needs the wherewithal to battle through it if he is to justify a top 10 pick.

Would have me in two minds. Would not survive under Voss.

While I haven't followed Lindsay and the Champs that much this year, I always worry about draftees that struggle to win their own ball. LOB was the las one we took with that sort of a profile. Plenty of others come to mind that haven't made it.

Lindsay doesn't struggle to win his own ball, he's just not an explosive player who's going to create space for himself from stoppage or anything like that.

Think of him as a Mitch Duncan clone, probably the closest comparison to him at this stage.

I still think we failed in not making better use of guys like LOB and, to an extent, Fisher.

Massimo D'Ambrosio can't win a hard ball to save himself, but Hawthorn make good use of him.

Ultimately, we opted to cut LOB and look to wingers like Acres and Hollands because we made a conscious decision that our wingers were going to need to get back and defend to cover our midfield's inability to do so. In hindsight, more attacking wingers paired with a more mobile on-ball crew would probably have been a better combination for the way the game has trended.

If Lindsay is there at our pick I think we take him. Regardless of whether Voss is at the helm or not, the expectation from next season onwards is going to be that we transform the list and gameplan to be more efficient, with a strong focus on transition and ball security.

I remember there were people on here who were quoting Coates league coaches, who were saying that LOB wasn’t tough enough for AFL level and couldn’t find his own ball. There were plenty of warning signs there.

Do you have an expectation where ISON will fall? Im struggling to think what picks we have as im not sure we keep any TDK compo, so im expecting us to be taking a few picks in the 20-40 range.

Dean then ? Then ISON plus rookies.

I would desperately like a more explosive player with our top 10 pick if we were to keep it.

Thinking Ison has been rather well hidden. Have seen some great cameos, but admittedly not a huge body of work. Has played school footy rather than much if Coates Talent League (1 game ?)

Great size, athleticism and skills. Hoping oppo recruiters have taken little notice due to academy link. Could fall in the second round, but may last until very late in the draft. The type of kid who is largely untapped and could develop in any part of the ground. Not saying he is “guaranteed” class, but the read is very good through my blue tinted specs.

Pundits like Twomey are talking Dean up as a mid first rounder, yet most phantoms have him lasting to the second round. Unless we have a mischievous oppo recruiter bidding high, our current pick probably covers it.

I think Dean only being 193 will count against him in his draft rating. Teams are looking for tall Key position players

SOS should never have drafted a non competitor like O'Brien. Ed Richards was there for the taking. No player who can't win their own ball at a lower level should ever be drafted.

Wow didnt know he was expected to be a 2nd round prospect. Hopefully the Brisbane pick is sufficient.
I think so. Could go lower but he's got huge upside in his athletic profile.

This years class is a tough one to judge, a lot of 50/50 prospects around compared to most years.

Hmm probably closer to 40 than 25. Great athletic profile and should test well at the combine. Decent kick also.
But yet to have a breakout game. I don't know if anyone would bid a second rounder for him.
Definitely, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if a team wanted him on a pure upside basis. He's got all the tools to be a gun if he can knuckle down a position and get the ball in his hands more.

Looked seriously good in our pre season training sessions he attended.
