I like Lindsay but trading say pick 10 this year than putting forward our F1 to move up 3 or 4 places is madness sorry to say. After watching the champs I've come to the following conclusions:
- Harry Dean is a top 10 talent (I'm hoping for the usual F/S slide).
- Josh Lindsay is the best player in the open pool that fills a list need. I have him in my top 5 overall.
- Cody has cemented himself as one of the top 2 prospects for next years draft.
- Ison is the only NGA product that belongs on the list.
If I were Austin, I'd be packaging the TDK compo pick (likely around pick 9 to 11, after matched bids and FA compensation) and the 2026 1st for Lindsay + change for draft points.
Guess it just depends on where you believe the list is. Some including myself see this year as more of an aberration than a showing of where we're really at, others see this season as a true reflection of where the list is at.I like Lindsay but trading say pick 10 this year than putting forward our F1 to move up 3 or 4 places is madness sorry to say.
If we were a top 8 side on the up, yeah I could get behind this type of move, but we are currently 12th and have been beaten by both the Roos and Tigers this year that we know are going to start to move up the ladder shortly.
We need a multitude of talented youth coming through the door and removing a F1 screams desperation to me. Especially with the likelihood of CW looking to be a top 3 pick next year.
You’re right indeed.Guess it just depends on where you believe the list is. Some including myself see this year as more of an aberration than a showing of where we're really at, others see this season as a true reflection of where the list is at.
That's obviously going to change how some people view our off season strategy.
Lindsay, Dean, Ison and a couple of cheap trades and i'd be extremely bullish on our list. The small forward issue remaining the final piece of the puzzle for me. Just can't see us filling that void with our current assets.

Agree. Using a F1 to move up to grab Lindsay and then what? Dean will wipe plenty of this year’s picks and then some. Can’t trade away all our future picks. On today's effort Dean could very well be top 10 material I suspect. We're probably going to struggle to pay for him let alone add someone like Lindsay unfortunately.
Yeah, but we’re going to need more for Dean (say another 2nd), and maybe ISON. Don’t think we’re going to be able to spend that capital on moving up at the top.lt is quite possible we do something similar to last year letting Kennedy & Owies go, think there are number of players on our list we may do the same to continue to bring in young talent.
Just gets a lot of it but does nothing withI know this doesn’t really affect us, but what has gone on with Tom McGuane? Was being touted as a mid-first round pick at the end of last year. His national champs were awful
Nothing happened this year. Was never going mid first round to anyone with half a brain unless he had a rapid growth spurt or discovered explosive pace out of the blue this year. Got a lot of hype by Pies fans because he racks up touches but he lacks the damage in his disposal and strength in the contest you need to be an AFL level mid imo.I know this doesn’t really affect us, but what has gone on with Tom McGuane? Think would be in the mix as a legitimate candidate. Can we get Byrne with a later pick
The TDK compo pick is likely to be around the 10 or 11 mark, after matched bids and FA compensation picks. I can't see Lindsay falling past pick 3 tbh (his skillset is in vogue right now). Our 2026 1st has to be moved, otherwise it'll be swallowed by a bid next year. It's just a question of whether we move it on this year, or next year. As it stands we have about 500 points on the AFL draft index, which means we'd be 700 points short if a bid were to come at 10 for Dean, so if we got Lindsay and some points for Dean and Ison, maybe even Cody then I think it's a win.I like Lindsay but trading say pick 10 this year than putting forward our F1 to move up 3 or 4 places is madness sorry to say.

Left footed Tom Papley for mine. I’m 100% on board this train. No doubt he’ll rise up the rankings after that last performance but I would have no hesitation taking him with our first pick. Can we get Byrne with a later pick
That's why he would be a later pick for me right now, plus I haven't seen any CTL games yet... might be bit of an ask but a return of Cumming, Dean, Ison and Byrne would be a nice haulI remember when Ben Ronke kicked 7 in a game and he was the second coming for a few weeks.
Need a bigger sample from Bryne before making an accurate judgement. But he did look good.
We'll need a lot of luck to end up with Cumming imo. That's why he would be a later pick for me right now, plus I haven't seen any CTL games yet... might be bit of an ask but a return of Cumming, Dean, Ison and Byrne would be a nice haul
He’s played midfield mostly and consistently racked up 20+ touches and big tackle numbers. Often takes the inside 50 kick and is a great decision maker and beautiful kick of the footy. That's why he would be a later pick for me right now, plus I haven't seen any CTL games yet... might be bit of an ask but a return of Cumming, Dean, Ison and Byrne would be a nice haul
Apparently the hardest worker Oakleigh has had through the doors recently outside of Jagga. Also quite good friends from reports.I’d love Grlj, the kid barracks for Carlton too which always helps
Born in 2007 and has still stuck with us, he must be a tough kid.
Is this a Charlie for King rumour because surely we wouldn't go there? Personally not a fan at all of Ben King. Very little impact outside of the 25m zone from the goalsquare for a supposed elite forward.Have heard a weird swap of key forwards with Gold Coast.
Involving Royalty on both sides.
