I'm not concerned. In fact, I think he complements our list build perfectly. Neither Weitering or O'Farrell are suited to playing on the smaller and more agile key forwards, they're more suited to take on the monsters like Darcy, Larkey, the Kings and so on. Dean is athletic enough to mark a Curnow/Cameron/Jamarra type. I'd liken Dean to Steven May (who is only 190cm) minus the agro, he's incredibly quick and powerful, he reads the ball well and he's a left footer to boot. I'd give up pick 9 for him in a heartbeat and call it a bargain, but I hope he'll slide as most Father/Sons tend to do.Are we not the least bit concerned in giving up a top 10 pick for a key defender that is only 193cm tall?
Lets wait and see when the phantom drafts start coming outbeen mucking around with draft projections.... there is no way dean isnt bid on pre pick 9 - which is pick 12 on the night - and i cant see anyone with the collateral to trade up with 2025 picks - it would seem the only hope is to trade 9 and or 11 to someone who is prepared to give us something decent this year and next..... adelaide, the dogs, north... essendon have us over a barrel...... there is zero reason for them not to bid Dean at pick 8, he will be the best option on the table at that moment - this is deeply messy

this is the hypothetical that will never happen? oki dokieLe Archie said:
I’ve heard we are putting pressure on with a Dean bid to trade 6 plus seconds for 9 and 11,
Okay gotcha, cheers![]()
If that is in fact true - Payback is a b1tch. I would sit on that and let you bid. I have no issue with 11 moving back a few spots.I’ve heard we are putting pressure on with a Dean bid to trade 6 plus seconds for 9 and 11. Probably a win win for both clubs but you’d think would happen live on the night so as to protect you from a Richmond bid before just in case.
ive looked all of the "rankings" and they seem to provide a degree of consensus and are variations on this:Lets wait and see when the phantom drafts start coming out
Yes Dean may be bid on, surpised if its as early as with Essendon

The proposed deal would actually help us, it would be a win-win.If that is in fact true - Payback is a b1tch. I would sit on that and let you bid. I have no issue with 11 moving back a few spots.
You believe you've heard a whisper that Rosa is pressuring Carlton into a deal that actually helps Carlton but makes our draft hand worse off?this is the hypothetical that will never happen? oki dokie
How does splitting 6 into 9 and 11 make our hand worse in an even pool? It’s not I believe I’ve heard, I’ve heard it. You can believe it or not.You believe you've heard a whisper that Rosa is pressuring Carlton into a deal that actually helps Carlton but makes our draft hand worse off?
Did you see his father play? He was only 188cm and Harry is still growing. I’m not concerned at all.Are we not the least bit concerned in giving up a top 10 pick for a key defender that is only 193cm tall?
thats the joyous bit - one of my favourite carlton players ever - if we get even something approaching his dad..... and the portents are strong, the next generation wont know what hit them.. was talking to my kids about Deano.... best i could come up with was Tom Stewart with more flair and violenceDid you see his father play? I’m not concerned at all.
6 straight up for 9&11 probably improves our hand. Giving away 21 and 27 and pressuring Carlton into doing it with a bid on Dean is the bit that I'm calling bullshitHow does splitting 6 into 9 and 11 make our hand worse in an even pool? It helps both parties
the bid matching is probably going to cost you guys 650 points as you get pushed down by the annable, uwland and patterson picks - from 3454 points to 2798 points ouch - (and our 9 and 11 probably becomes 12 and 14, a 400 pt loss itself)6 straight up for 9&11 probably improves our hand. It might or might not. Just don't like being 'threatened'.The proposed deal would actually help us, it would be a win-win.
Back when Peter was playing Paul Salmon was the only 200cm forward, seems like every key forward now cracks the 2mDid you see his father play? He was only 188cm and Harry is still growing. I’m not concerned at all.
I actually couldn’t care less if you believe it or not. I really really couldn’t. Just telling the Carlton fans what I’ve heard from sources in the recruiting space and it makes complete sense strategically for both clubs.6 straight up for 9&11 probably improves our hand. Yes, right I sense you are Uncle…thats the joyous bit - one of my favourite carlton players ever - if we get even something approaching his dad..... and the portents are strong, the next generation wont know what hit them.. was talking to my kids about Deano.... best i could come up with was Tom Stewart with more flair and violence

My memory for Fyfe s draft year is a bit different.Fyfe was putting up absurd numbers in the WAFL Colts, just wasn't getting as much of a look in at Champs level with Morabito, Lucas, Dunstan, and Swallow being their midfield core, along with Matera, Fasolo, Colyer, and Jamie Cripps in the squad for attacking mobility.
I think one game he had was 34 disposals and 8 goals? Guess enough recruiters didn't see how his mobility and strength would work at AFL level, while not being fond of his kicking technique.
I think it was mick Ablett, said ‘his footy IQ is off the charts’
The idea has merit, but it depends on who’s available and who we’re targeting at around #6 - if it’s say a forward like Robey or Schubert who knows if they’ll be there at #6.It might or might not. Just don't like being 'threatened'.
