Had to do a double take. Thought that read: Shart the Draft FFS.Gee the masses are getting rumbly around here. In-fighting at an all time high.
Throw the ball upStart the draft FFS.
Didn't Yaz and Harley break-up? I can't believe I just typed that.
I don’t think we have been addressing the issue of our poor small forwards very well. Can't address all the issues in one off season mate...
Need to be patient.
Exactly Jim.Incredibly petty if true, because they gain almost nothing out of it.

Exactly Jim.
Could understand a WCE bid if it gave them some sort of an advantage but with the proposed pick trades we’ve planned to get rid of 9 and 11, what exactly are WCE gaining - fa. The bid has no bearing on Essendon and North, or whoever that gets to use picks 9 and 11.
Petty and pretty stupid if you ask me.
Exactly. You wouldn't want to waste pick 2/3 on a player you didn't think was worth it. They will bid on players they'd be happy to have on their list. How is bidding on a player that you want petty?
But you just know if and when we have the opportunity to make them pay, we won't.Going through all the emotions.
Oh and **** west coast, karma is a bitch!
- Academy players have ruined any equalisation and the draft as a whole.
- The draft to me is now boring and commercialised.
- Dean and walker, have cost us Curnow, De Koning, Silvagni + our F1.
Why not make the B2B premiers pay first?Honestly - I would go with not necessarily "screwing over" but making pay. It is a competitive environment and I have never seen why clubs like say North, let Daicos slip to 4 just so JHF could have his ego stroked that he went 1.
Given everyone knows Dean is going to go to Carlton - why would you let Carlton get him at 8 -10 (where most people have him rated) when you can force them into matching at 3 - when you have to compete against Carlton.
This club is cursed. How is Dean bid on at pick 3…. Seriously?!
Why not make the B2B premiers pay first?
Because you know Carlton will match the bid at #3 and WCE won’t get the player they want, that’s why.How is bidding on a player that you want petty?

Also, the other reason teams bid is to get an advantage with later picks moving up.
But if Carlton trades 9 and 11 for later picks, then 9 and 11 don’t get used up in matching of the bid and there’s no sliding up of picks or advantage gained.
Dean was rated at best 20-30... then that comes in to 10ish. Then it's 7 -10 range. Now without him playing a game in the last month it's somehow gone up to 3? Crazy situation.
I like Ison but if a bid is going to come at 22 we're only 2 picks off Lindsay - one of the classiest players from the whole draft.
Surely we've got to reconsider picking Ison in that case?
Hard disagree on that. Best performed perhaps, but his profile for the next level is inferior to others rated above him.Annable is a top 3 pick, if not the best player in the draft but Dean will be bid on earlier because of the vibe!!!!
That is a very underrated point.I think West Coast bidding on Dean at 3 does us a favour, because it should hopefully mean the AFL will conclude the current system is working and not change it any further for next year.
Okay not petty, pointless imo. That’s how the bidding system works. That’s exactly what the system is.
Doesn’t explain it being “petty”?
How dare he improve and become the best KPD in the draft.
I think he's a very good player but 3rd best in the draft ? This is WC playing funnybuggers wiping out as many of our picks as possible to benefit them later on.
The wording is semantics they are bidding on a player they are not getting so there is no tangible benefit other than screw Carlton over. How is bidding on a player that you want petty?
I’m not sure if it’s the #9, his wiry frame, or even the haircut, but Felix Kneipp (who Cal linked us to) has a bit of that Zac Butters/Jagga vibe in the way he moves.

l can understand them bidding on a player they have a chance of getting but there is no tangible benefit for West Coast.
