Carlton had the trade period and the two weeks after to get the necessary selections yet we badly miscalculated. That’s why we’re hoping to get lucky tonight while other clubs are killing it (some at our expense).

Not really. The AFL changed the rules for this year, and are going to change them again for next year. We wouldn't have known the full scope of that. Plus Cody's stocks have risen further this year.

We've known for at least 2 years now that Cody is an absolute gun. The changes suck but we'd have been planning on banking points no matter what the rules end up being.

GC end up with 20% of the first round yet again (including the likely #1 if it weren't for injury).

They don't even need list managers at this point. The system just gifts them an extraordinary chunk of the first round every year without fail.

I honestly cannot understand how the other clubs are letting them do this.

I know I've been banging on about this and it's boring but they'll win 7 or 8 of the next 10 premierships if this continues. You cannot have such a severe imbalance in the equalization mechanism that the league is built around - the draft.
