Didn't Hawthorn just undo most of yesterday's work?Coops have you seen what Hawthorn has done. Given this years draft was week, teams would have had to give up more to get into the 1st round this year.
We went and traded pick 21 to hawthorn only to give it all up to Sydney. They were so desperate for Curnow we didn’t need to give them anything back.
And thats fine but why didnt we use the pick 28 when there were some good players still left. We got GC 2026 2nd round but they will finish at the top end of the ladder next year.
We will see how it all goes. But i think we needed a KPP player to balance out the list a bit. If one of them goes down it will be another miserable year. Not that a KPP will make a big difference straight away, but McKay is ageing and injury prone.
McGovern is on his way out.
We need to get as much talent in the door as possible.

Walker is amazing however if it costs 2 firsts and 2 seconds to match ill pass.
They can only screw us if we let them.
Not you. There's been some real bolters in this draft which speaks volumes about this draft.Still Greeves and Ludowyke available who I thought we might get at 28.
I seriously have no idea![]()
Disagree right now it’s 2 spots left, we have 4 train on players, they all and Elijah might as well pack up and go home tomorrow if we take someone else, the only way a spot opens is long term injury list and next years draft is stronger anyway so it’s a calculated risk that GC rnd 2 next year is greater than this years 28. I get people want shiny things now, but that’s not list managementCoops have you seen what Hawthorn has done. That’s what I think also. Got our marks and have insurance capabilitiesWe were only ever taking these two. Everything we've done has suggested that was the plan all along. Might jag a possible late pick. Or we wont.![]()
The only way it's gonna cost us the two firsts and two seconds for Walker is if we're playing Sydney in the GF.
Odds are we're both middling (6th-10th) teams next year, the two firsts do the heavy lifting for Walker, and the two seconds allow us to trade for other Hayward-level players of need, or buy back into the first round after matching the Walker bid.
38 ain’t worth much in my humble. Might as well use it and take Ison with the next pick.

Or we are just crap traders which we’ve been all trade and draft periodHawthorn's fortune does not mean all clubs need to achieve that sort of deal. Remember that it happened in a hotly contested part of the draft, and desperate things happen there.
Jevan will be a star
