I think you can try to loop reidys score in round 1, then you have 3 weeks to fix your r2 spot during the early byes.
Seems unnecessarily restrictive on your trades early though.

I'm maintaining that Reidy at r3 is the only spot you can reasonably start him IF you want 30 green dots(like me)

But in 4-5 weeks you’re not going to make the 4-500k required to make those upgrades?

Compared to other lines where yes you still have a rookie on field, it’s more likely you’ll have bench cover for those positions if they need to be replaced or have greater options to continue that cash gen until it is enough to make those kind of upgrades.

Otherwise if Darcy comes back round 4 and your otherwise left with a red dot, you likely only have ~200k worth of cash gen and you’re looking at upgrading to the likes of Draper and not Roma, English etc.

Absolutely pays off if he gets 8+ weeks to cap out his price and otherwise rookies but I don’t think the risk is worth it if Darcy is tipped to take back that position early.

Xerri - Tough start, will most likely loose $$ over the first month. Also I am thinking his tackle numbers might drop due to a better mid group around him getting the ball out more

TDK - Priced @ 88.....even in a solo ruck role there is a big possibility he doesn't improve

English - was 2023 a one off, or can he get back over 110??

Briggs - Has a good start, but the bye isn't great......but if Boyd plays, this is easier

I'm interested in him. Just not as a starter. But I have considered starting him so I have him in my side in case I find myself having to fix things when I want him.

Looking at his fixtures and history, I think he might drop 5 points early and then end up averaging exactly what he is priced at currently......better value elsewhere

It is a risk, absolutely - and wouldn't work for most teams who have more rookies in other positions, but it's a gamble that is worth a shot imo.

I’m playing with it and boy do I love what it allows me to do.

I can see a cerra being fattened enough to trade into a ruck easily by the time a trade is needed.

Who says you need to make $500k? If you have a ruck/fwd at R3 you can always up/down reidy and another midpricer into a fresh rookie and an uber ruck

Agree. Don’t look at it as Reidy up, what 400k player are you taking up to a premo early season?

It’s reidy down and another mid priced up.

Forget the cross positions it can still be reidy down to a mid rookie, midpricer up to good ruck.

Gawn has a dream run from rounds 4-8, especially if Darcy isn't back by Rd6. Early rounds, he should be able to exploit Briggs and Witts around the wide expanses of the MCG too.

He has his midfield back (Oliver & Petracca), so they should win more ball out of the centre meaning he'll be able to sit a kick behind the play like he loves to do more this year and just hoover up oppo pressured kicks forward.

Exactly who I have now already. But he has a challenging first 3 games, but it gets easier after that. He may not ton up for those three games - so really might need to find a better solution. Just don't know who yet.

Not that I can find. Have flirted with the idea of Jackson there as a stop gap especially given Reidy’s awful showing against the Dees. Freo might favour Jackson as their lead ruck for a few weeks.

I'd be going TDK/Briggs and look at upgrading to a Xerri or English after their tricky runs to start the year.

Was going set and forget but man marshall is just too unreliable so im looking for different options. Im either in nick bryant or jordan sweet territory. Both share rucks though.
