Buy/Sell Tickets Threads

The forum's basic rules on buying/selling tickets for the 2025 AFL Finals Series:

Q. Can I advertise my tickets on BigFooty?

A. Yes, but only on team boards and with consent of the board moderators.

Before starting these threads - check with the board moderators first. A thread might already exist.

Click the Moderators button top right of the forum thread list for a list of moderators.

The AFL Grand Final is a protected event under legislation and tickets are only permitted to be advertised/sold at no more than 10% of their face value.

GF Tickets advertising at more than 10% above their face value will be deleted when spotted. Continuance of any practice may result in account permanent bans.

Q. Can I post a thread on the main AFL board advertising the sale/purchasing of grand final tickets

A. No.

Only post buy/sell threads on
team boards. Any buy/sell tickets threads on the main board will be deleted. If you’re unsure please contact your board Moderator Super Moderator Administrator and seek further clarification

Q. What happens if I arrange to buy AFL Finals tickets from a BigFooty poster and it turns out to be a scam or the tickets are counterfeit?

A. BigFooty cannot do anything for you.

BigFooty does not warrant the sale of any tickets.
BigFooty does not solicit or generate fees for their sale. Each poster engaging in their purchase or sale does so solely at their own risk. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Or you could just sneak in...

Couple of questions as a first time P1:
  1. Are P1 members still guaranteed a seat if they do not tick the standing/restricted view box?
  2. Have P1 members traditionally been allocated Category 1,2 seats over say Category 5,6,7, or is that all completely randomised?
Cheers

Cheers

As a P1 member since 2011, my experience has been:

1) I said no to standing room/restricted viewing in 2011, while in 2022 I said I was open to that but I got seat for each GF. As per the T&Cs,

At the time of registration, members can elect not to receive Standing Room ticket(s), however if all members in your group
are able to stand for the duration of the day, we strongly recommend all members select Option 1 – ‘I will accept the best available ticket – including Standing Room’ at the time of registering to retain guaranteed (Priority 1) access to a Grand Final ticket.

Based on that, you can lose your P1 guarantee if you opt against standing room - note that you can't opt out against restricted viewing

2) In 2011, I was Cat 2 seating - level 2, behind the goals above the Geelong Cheersquad in the Great Southern Stand. In 22 I was Cat 3 up in the top deck

It's random - you could be Cat 1 through to Cat 7, just all depends on the draw

More info in case it's helpful to some - you can't opt out of restricted viewing seating, the only opt in or opt out option is for standing room:

REGISTRATION OPTIONS

The following ticket options will be provided for members to select when registering:

1. I will accept the best available ticket – including Standing Room
Members can receive reserved seating across any level at the MCG, Restricted View seat or Standing Room ticket. These will be allocated on the next best available basis.

2. I will accept the best available reserved seat – no Standing Room
Members can receive reserved seating across any level at the MCG or a Restricted View seat only. Members will not be allocated a Standing Room ticket.

Tickets will be allocated via ballot on a next best available basis, members can receive reserved seating across any level at the MCG, Restricted View seat or a Standing Room ticket. If you select option 2 and all reserved seat tickets have been allocated when your registration is next to be processed, you will not be issued a Grand Final Ticket.

2025 Grand Final Ballot | Member Information

What a win against the Brisbane Lions on Friday night to secure our place in the Preliminary Final in two weeks time!

This is an exciting time for the Club, and we are pleased to provide important information to eligible members about how to access a ticket to the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final, should the Geelong Cats qualify.

As we have now progressed to the Preliminary Final, as an eligible member you will have the opportunity to register for a ticket to the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final via the member Grand Final ballot. Priority access for registrations will apply, based on your 2025 membership.

Registration for the ballot will be on Wednesday 10 September, 9am – 6pm AEST. This year, registrations can be made between 9am – 6pm. There are no individual priority group times.

On Tuesday 9 September, you will receive a further email confirming your priority group and your eligible barcode/s for registration.

Ahead of this information being shared, please see below other important details including important information regarding Accessible Registrations.

HANDY HINTS
- Member barcodes will only be able to access the same ticket type as the membership type. For example, an adult membership barcode will access an adult ticket. There are no junior tickets for the Grand Final, junior membership barcodes will access concession tickets.

- Each member barcode will be charged a $6.00 non-refundable fee at time of registration to cover administration costs.

- Members who wish to be allocated tickets together must register for the Ballot in the same transaction. (Maximum of eight (8) members together)

- Members in different priority groups who wish to attend together must register under the lower priority group. For example, a Priority 1 Member who wishes to attend with Priority 2 Members must register with them in Priority 2 and will be processed with them as part of Priority 2 (forgoing Priority 1 access). Please be aware that registering in a lower priority group may reduce your chance of securing a ticket.

YOUR REGISTRATION
- All members will be required to register through Ticketek should they wish to purchase a Grand Final ticket. We will email you the day prior to registration as a reminder with your barcodes and Ticketek link.

- We will also update the Registration Guide on the membership website with relevant links, information and barcodes.

- We want to emphasise that the only way to secure the opportunity to access a ticket for the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final is by registering for the ballot.

HOW DOES THE BALLOT WORK?
- Registration will be open for all priority groups between 9am-6pm. To retain priority, members must select the correct priority group from the dropdown options.

- It is the responsibility of the member to ensure the correct Priority Group is selected when completing registration.

- It does not matter what time you register on the day, as all registrations within each priority group will be randomised to determine the order of ticket allocation.

- If we were to win a Preliminary Final, Ticketek would, using an automated system, randomly allocate tickets to Priority 1 members who registered and then, randomly allocate the remaining tickets among Priority 2 and then Priority 3 members (subject to availability).

- At that time, members who are successful in obtaining a Grand Final ticket will automatically be charged for tickets via Ticketek without prior notification of the transaction. You must ensure you have enough funds on your nominated credit card to pay for all registered tickets as there will be no follow up if your credit card declines.

- Tickets will be allocated on a next best available basis and therefore members can receive either a reserved seat, restricted view seat or standing room ticket (subject to whether you nominated if you would accept standing room at the time of registration).

REGISTRATION GUIDE
Members, you need to do your homework and now's the time to prepare.
Read through the registration guide on our AFL Finals Hub.

ACCESSIBLE TICKET BOOKINGS & COMPANION CARDS
Members who have a medical requirement for access to accessible tickets, hold a companion card or wish to book in a group with other members who have an accessible requirement, will be issued with a new Grand Final Accessible Registration barcode.

If this applies to you, please contact Membership Services on 03 5225 4400 between 9.30am – 4pm Monday to Friday, or email membership@geelongcats.com.au no later than 12pm AEST Monday September 8 to obtain your code.

HOW CAN WE HELP?
We're here to assist! If you have questions about the registration process, please contact Membership Services on 03 5225 4400 between 9.30am – 4pm Monday to Friday, or email membership@geelongcats.com.au.

Thank you so much, I would have probably missed this. This is a completely new and long needed change for those people with accessibility needs. Finally we have been given equal footing and not waiting on callbacks from the agency that never come, or the pretend disability phone line that is never answered. Just join the queue like everyone else.

Any idea how to quickly check your priority level with your membership? My brother called up and added on P1 for both of our memberships earlier in the year, but would like to double check. I plan to call tomorrow to confirm

This morning's email says - On Tuesday 9 September, you will receive a further email confirming your priority group and your eligible barcode/s for registration.

So you could either wait until Tuesday or call tomorrow to make sure that little bit earlier

Quality work here cats_09

Lots of Geelong barcode holders will benefit from this. Well done.

Been a P1 since 2002, have never selected standing, have always got a ticket.

2007,2008,2009 and 2011 I was seated in either M52,M53 or M7

2022 I was in Q49

You can't call in sick and get on a plane instead?

Just logged into Ticketek account for a test run. Of course they want to authenticate your account first, (mine is email) while the clock is running. Put in the required code and up comes an error message: try again later.
And that's just to get into your account. They better not pull this shit on Wednesday.

That registration for the ballot is such a scam, every year that pockets so much money for no reason. Including lots of fans of teams playing in the prelim who never even make it to the GF.

Just came here to comment the same. Repeated from last year's outrage. It's bloody disgrace on the AFL, when all the agency does is make people do their own typing to get tickets, and usually flark that up too.
They rake in around 3.5 million from the four teams (dependant on membership numbers)
Yet here we are in the raffle, grateful to have the chance, so our six bucks seems negligent. Opportunistic.
