Is there going to be another zero round in 2025 before round 1?As Trade eon drags on (and on and on and on), my mind drifts to, how we will be screwed in 2025?
So lets go through some knowns, some assumptions, and some predictions.
Knowns
- Jack Darling will play his 300th game next year
- we are a team that the AFL put often in the most commercially non viable slots
- Despite ending on or near the bottom the ease of our fixturing continues to be rated in the top 6 or so hardest fixtures year on year.
- We will retain Good Friday
Assumptions
- we obtain Luke Parker and he will play his 300th game next year
- there are only certain teams we can play at certain times, IE we need to play a team with a similar rest period prior to Good Friday
Predictions
I think that there are 5 solid predictions we can make with the above
Round 1 - Docklands - Home - vs ?
Round 2 - Perth - Away - West Coast
Round 3 - ? reckon we get Geelong in Geelong
Round 4 - ? Home game possibly Hobart
Round 5 - Adelaide - Gather Round - Brisbane
Round 6 - Docklands - Home - Carlton
Round 7 - SCG - Away - Sydney
The italics are my guesses rather than predictions.
Two games in Melbourne in the first 7 rounds, Playing a minimum of four finalists just feels about right on the spectrum of how hard they will f*** us.
IMHO, if the AFL schedule us in Perth in round 2 and Sydney in round 7, we should start round 1 with neither Darling nor Parker in the team. And I know this is harsh AF on both of those players, but we should not tow some line to appease oppositions supporters after year on year being f***ed by these corporate overlords of ours.
back, but this will be If they didn't screw us over so goddamn always we should play the game, but they do and rarely do we have means to screw them back and we should take it.
Any post your predictions.

Surely we don't cop Geelong in Geelong again.
How many years in a row has it been?

It's a joke. If I am Viney/Watt I am giving the AFL this info and declaring that we will have them at home. Not counting 2020, six years in a row. In which time we've played them in Melbourne the same amount as we've played them in Brisbane. Once.
Since 2001 the only seasons we didn't play them there were 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017 (and 2020).

round 6.You don't have Good Friday in the first seven rounds?
D'oh.round 6.
Also GWS at Docklands R1.round 6.
It'll be a dead set certain. One thing can be certain is the AFL will derail our season again like last year, putting us against the 4 prelim finalists from last year in the first 7 rounds. This should be enough to have us in a bad enough position for LDU to start exploring his FA options with one of the big clubs.
Spot on. FWIW we have our issues with the AFL but how many other club boards have the fixturing team come on and confirm arrangements this early in the year? Good work Marstermind, I hope the AFL are looking after you.North Melbourne players will have to Google "MCG" for them to remember how to get there on the one occasion we get scheduled to play.
Our first home game at Docklands will be against Freo, the Suns, GWS or some other low drawing opposition
All North Melbourne players can confidently make social arrangements for Thursday and Friday nights safe in the knowledge they won't be required to play football.
Death, taxes and North playing at Pork Barrel Park against the Cats every year.
Jason Horne-Francis will never play against North Melbourne at Docklands. Lock in the Power at Adelaide Oval.
A potential 30k+ crowd against the Hawks will be wasted by playing them in Hobart in front of family and friends.
Gather Round at some poxy suburban ground or country paddock.
Free to air games will be Good Friday and...maybe one other.

The ol rinse wash repeat eh?
We have played Geelong at Kardinia Park every year this century except 2000, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2020. 19 times in 25 seasons.Surely we don't cop Geelong in Geelong again.
