There could be some merit to not trading so aggressively this year, to make sure you can get to 23 guns. Marathon, not a sprint and all that.
corrective trades at the start are crucial for cash gen.

last thing youd want is a dead rookie in the first few rounds.

The new Flex position adds so much more dynamic movement to the game. Here's an example of how you can use Flex to pull off some magic....

Earlier this week I had traded Perryman to Dale but Dale is now locked as he's already played
But now Hall is stuck on my forward bench with an 85

I can get Hall's 85 by:
  1. Bringing Perryman back in to Flex and trading out Flynn instead
  2. Flipping Perryman to D6 and Paton to Flex
  3. Subbing Paton from Flex with Hewett at F5
  4. Hall now covers Paton, Hewett sits at flex
  5. No change to my team other than changing which non-playing player I've traded out

Ok so we’re up to around 8.

Anybody have any thoughts on the flex position.

My thoughts are it’s best to have a premium there that can score big.

I have TDK in flex with Gawn and Xerri rucking.

I do regret putting TDK in flex as it limits your ability to move players around.

I think ideally I’d like a M\F in flex.

Anybody else got some thoughts?

It doesn’t matter.
Better to have a DPP for flexibility in moving your side around, but other than that, it all comes out in the wash anyway.

Maybe at the end of the season if your team is full and one line is scoring well above the rest and is full (def) then you can add an extra, but how many will be in that position?

Do people see Daniel as a keeper? I don’t.
100% keeper. Amazing role.

They've had Fisher and Hall, Daniel is 10 times the player they are.

Fans love scapegoating and picking on players.

He'll play every game continue his 100 average, it's just too easy to score in that role.

Prolly Warner/Daniel ends up there, as I have top many fwds
Yep. Flynn to a super premo mid in rd13 or 14, then move one of the excess fwds to Flex.

Flex score hasn't been required the past two weeks, so considering just trading Davidson (currently sitting there) to Tsatas this week for the cash injection.

If Tsatas spuds it up tonight I'll be in the exact same position I've been in for the past fortnight.

Had no trust in Flynn long term, after changing up my entire team structure to bring him in before round 1, so never considered bringing him back last week.

I think he is saying that his 22 best scorers for those weeks were players on the field and he did not have to rely upon the flex position being one of those 22 best scorers.

Could be season defining but I’m likely jumping off. He’s done his job but he’s a liability in defence for North.

They don't exactly have an abundance of talent on the list. You move Sheez or Kerch down back and you lose talent up the ground. They got Daniel for a reason, he's an upgrade on Fisher.

Might be your Dogs bias talking?

I'd put good money that Daniel players every game this year (barring injury of course). Worst case he's moved into the midfield or to half forward, that's an easy fix if it happens. Until then, lock.

I reckon he's got a 150 game in him. North will win a game soon and he'll have 20+ kicks and a bunch of score involvements. He's been teasing a monster game, it's coming.

Agree with Northernsoul74 he's a liability defensively. Watch how many goals are scored through his man tonight.

North would be better off with Mckercher playing that role, he's been lost further forward.

Daniel has scored 81, 116, 116, 92, 116, 88 and 89 this season.

And he started at $269k.

Unless he's confirmed to be omitted or gets a surprising role change, I'm not really sure why anybody would burn a trade on getting rid of him.
A role change or dropped is exactly the concern.

Deal with it when it happens, if it happens. Dropped will be all over media, we'll hear about it before teams drop. Role change will also filter through to the media because it's negative and they love that shit.

Trading him out could be the biggest mistake anyone could make this year.

Not the dozens of easy i50s they're conceding? Not the weakest defensive unit in the league (starts with overpaid spuds like LMac, Corr and Logue).

North's problems are a lot deeper than Caleb Daniel.

Yep, he was recruited to do exactly what he's doing.
They'd like him to be adding more on the defensive side of his game, but it won't suddenly be the biggest deal breaker that he isn't.

They are struggling as a team defensively, and have made an example of rebounding defenders in the past (Hall, Fisher), but they recruited Daniel because he is a former All Australian and premiership player, and uses the ball well coming out of D50.

He's scoring well, and it's a non-negotiable hold until something gives IMO.

Agree with you guys I currently have him at F6 so why would I trade out someone playing the seagull role down back even if he only averages 90 there aren’t many upgrades forward anyway.

Yeah nah.

The point is he may get dropped or moved because despite his SC scoring being good, he's a liability and they may try something else.

Given his high ownership getting ahead of the curve could be a good strategy. No one is suggesting do it this week.

Personally I'm thnking to turn him into an uber after the byes.
