I was keen on Marra a couple of years ago but I wouldn’t be touching him now. Would be expected to pay him way too much money and give up assets that could just be flushed down the toilet, if it backfires.
I wouldn't be stressed about our salary cap - least of our problems. #1 problem is lack of genuine A grade talent and has been for a long time. If you get the chance to get that talent on your list for a relatively low price at the trade table, it's well worth the (admittedly high) risk in my opinion.

Understand why others think differently though.

Not worried about the salary cap, more saying I don’t want to be paying a bloke who isn’t going to be on the park due to potential off field issues. I don’t think essendon is the right place for him atm, we don’t have strong enough leaders that would be needed in dealing with a player like jamarra

Yeah I totally understand this attitude. I might just have a higher risk appetite. If he came across on a 2-3 year deal without costing us the world at the trade table, and it didn't work out, I don't think that's the end of the world. If we have the opportunity but are too gun-shy/cautious and he ends up going to Gee/Syd/Collingwood and ends up having a great 15 year career as one of the better key forwards in the league and we continue on this path of lacking genuine talent, particularly in the forward line, that is the end of the world in my opinion.

Every great side has a focal point who ends up in the top 10 of the Coleman, then a support cast of 3 - 4 goal kickers with 20 + goals.

We never seem to have both. The best teams top 2 - 3 goal kickers always seem to combine for 100 goals. Ours struggle to get to 70

I know we are addressing the fwd line but the quicker we move away from mids as fwds and fwds who could play midfield, the better we will be. Obviously some holding at the moment with a couple of young guys unsure which way they go but think the movement is in the right direction
