While I’m not a fan of wildcard weekend, the 1 advantage is it may mitigate the unfair draw by catching out teams who historically snuck into the 8 off the back of a soft draw

Oh also , you could be talking about us , There is not One genuine advantage to this idea

Every club at the start of the year know they need to make the 8 , pretty simple really

PS , Not having a go at you mate i just think there are a lot of people at the AFL getting paid a lot of money to just keep coming up with stupid ideas

It’s clearly a money-making move, under the guise of trying to keep the season going.
When, in reality, all they had to do was remove the pre-season bye and keep playing. Like they always used to

The 7-10 teams are stuffed now because winning the flag means winning 5 straight games. If you're in 9th or 10th then it's 5 AWAY games as well. Non Vic teams are absolutely stuffed.

The reward for top 6 is a week off.

Then the top 4 play for a second week off.

Then we might have a pre GF bye week.

It's possible the Grand Final teams will have played 4 games in 2 months.

Week 1 - R24 - Likely play Thursday or Friday night.
Week 2 - Bye
Week 3 - QF - Thurs or Fri (14 day break)
Week 4 - Bye
Week 5 - Prelim - Fri or Sat (15 day break)
Week 6 - Bye
Week 7 - GF - Sat (14 day break)

Crazy.

EDIT: I just realized that with the pre finals bye this is how it looks for the top teams anyway. WTF
