Dumb question

What is the usual go to starting round when setting up an 18 team league?

Byes included & Top 8 finals etc

Am in some 18 team leagues starting round 1 2 & 3

🤔
All our leagues start R1 ....my feeling is teams in leagues should have to navigate all the byes

Someone just told me that Supercoach scores are limited to 3,300 per game. Why exactly is this? Upon checking this weekend games on FanFooty- I noticed the totals were around that mark (3,301 to be exact)

Im assuming that it is scaled .

This is correct ....all games are scaled to 3,300 points per game

That can be scaled up or scaled down ....it's why at the end of games, you see adjustments in player's scores you've been following ....in reality it happens at the end of each qtr

Some teams are poor scorers, hence you see their players get upscaled more .....example PORT last season, Butters was the most upscaled player in the league at 5 pt ave upscale in his average over his real average

And im also under the assumption there could be some AFL games where the figure doesn't hit 3,300 in Supercoach?

Yes, but as my previous post outlined, all players are then upscaled to the 3,300 point ....meaning the better scorers in the game get an added upscale benefit

I was under the impression that if a game didn't hit 3,300 Supercoach points, you would accept that minimum score.

Thought it was more along the AFL Fantasy scoring where , you get what you get- no scaling involved.

That's the difference in the formats .....there's no scaling in AFL Fantasy ....hence why you sometimes see larger variations sometimes between DT and SC scores

This weekend in the 2 AFL games

Supercoach scores Bigger than AFL Fantasy Scores: 63
AFL Fantasy Scores Bigger than Supercoach Scores:28
SC scores= AFL Fantasy Scores= 1

It does seem to me that the higher end players, tend to score better in Supercoach than they do in Fantasy.

Also factor in, some players are better SC players than Fantasy players .....players with poor disposal are better Fantasy players (Taranto) because it's simply disposals being scored, whereas in SC you get penalised points for poor disposal

Impact players like a JHF or Rankine will always score better in SC ....they're not stats accumulators which Fantasy rewards

My Fantasy & SC teams have no comparison re players

Dare I say it, Supercoach is probably a better reflection of a players performance than AFL Fantasy.

In AFL fantasy, you get rewarded for chipping the ball around the ball (usually with no much meterage gain) and turnovers don't get penalised , as Supercoach penalises ball use efficiency.

Im following the Supercoach scoring pretty closely but Fantasy is alot more easier to follow just due to the scoring system. Like I know how AFL Fantasy scoring works out in the back of my head. With SC, you get scaling, you have 0.5 points involved and I generally believe with SC you need an app of some sort to keep track of every score change.

If you "really" want to go down the SC scoring rabbit hole ....

We also know that events that happen in D50 or F50 are worth ~20%more compared to the midfield.
You are rewarded more for perfoming acts in scoring zones. Finally, SuperCoach also stick to the ‘3300 rule’ - a match scaling rule that ensures every game finishes with the same amount of points.

Random question from a SC draft noob.

I have a draft tonight and hold the no.1 pick. In light of somewhat recent injury news to some of the more premium mids, i.e Bont, Butters etc. Should that be enough to deter me from picking them at 1 OA or would you rather go for one of the premium rucks or someone like Daicos due to the other guys injuries? Or would you simply bank the premium mid and bring them into the fold once they have returned?

It really depends on the draft setup. Ultimately the goal is to win enough games to play finals, then have the best team available with the best draw at that time. I wouldn't use pick 1 on someone missing 5 weeks and coming back underdone, but it's only one of the factors. I'd be more focussed on finals draw and positional scarcity tbh
