OK, home from work now, so catching up on bids and draft order.

@ #25, Sydney bid on GCS Beau Addinsall

#25 requires 506 points to match.

Gold Coast Suns match with pick #28, which is worth 505 points. (There's a 1-point penalty that comes off its next pick, #29, but doesn't move it.

#25 - Gold Coast Suns (matching a Sydney bid) - Beau Addinsall

SNAPSHOT:
“A hard-running accumulator with clean stoppage craft and the agility to find effective exits.” – Michael Alvaro

STRENGTHS:

  • Accumulation
  • Agility
  • Clean hands
  • Running power
  • Stoppage craft
  • Vision

Addinsall has made his name as an accumulator who covers plenty of ground each time he takes the field. His production as a pure midfielder high-level, as evidenced by his average 32 disposals and 7.7 clearances per three Coates Talent League games this year. He also led all comers in the AFL Academy's second game, against Richmond VFL, exhibiting his ability to rack up possessions in all parts of the ground on that day.

A significant aid to Addinsall's ball winning ability is his running power. He gets involved in transitional chains, able to run in waves and support teammates in driving the ball forward. Further to that, he works hard to get from contest to contest, where he is just as capable of finding the pill. Addinsall's stoppage craft is as polished as they come, showcasing terrific footy IQ in his positioning and crumbing anticipation.

A valuable addition to Gold Coast's list.

@ #26, Sydney bid on Collingwood's Zac McCarthy.

#25 requires 477 points to match.

Collingwood match with:

#35 - 338 points
#40 - 238 points
total = 576 points, 99 points residual, returns pick #49 to Collingwood

McCarthy will address a need for KPP and ruck depth.

@ #27, Sydney bids on GCS Jai Murray.

#27 requires 449 points.

Gold Coast Suns match with pick #30, worth 454 points but reduced 1 point (from previous bid match) to 453 points.

Therefore, matched, with 4 points residual (not worth a pick; going into the long-term piggybank).

#27 - Gold Coast Suns (matching Sydney bid) - Jai Murray

SNAPSHOT:
“A smooth-moving, versatile prospect who uses the ball with poise and penetration” – Michael Alvaro

STRENGTHS:

  • Ball use
  • Class
  • Decision making
  • Poise
  • Size
  • Versatility

Murray is the type of player who always seems to have time in possession. He's a slick mover capable of stepping in and out of traffic, before exhibiting great poise and composure in his decision making. He has adapted those traits to plenty of roles over the years, most recently landing on becoming an A1 midfielder in the mould of Noah Anderson.

While he thrived with a shift onto the inside, Murray has largely made his name as a playmaking half-back and wingman. Roaming the outside in his cruisy style, the 18-year-old is adept at holding his width and making supportive runs. In possession, he's capable of breaking the lines with both efficient and penetrative kicks, identifying his targets quickly. Wherever he goes, his ball use and movement are standout traits.

In his time as a midfielder, Murray's clean fundamentals and size come to the fore. He is able to win first possession and absorb tackling pressure before dishing off, or darting away to the outside. His quick thinking and vision often gets him out of trouble and helps to create that illusion of having more time than he does in reality. All together, he looks as stylish and polished as any player in the crop at his best.

Another great local youngster added to Gold Coast's ranks.

OK, I have not heard from Maximus 2011 and we need to keep moving, so I will take the Bulldogs pick for him.

At #30, Bulldogs bid on Swans' Academy Harry Kyle.

Bulldogs (and GWS) have been linked with this guy, who can start as a running defenders but likely develop into a midfielder.

LikeAVersion - will you match by Swans?

Pick #31, Western Bulldogs selects Marcus Krasnadamskis.

Bulldogs appear to be pretty hot on this guy, and he's unlikely to make it to their next pick. With only 2 rucks on their list, and the changes to playing rules that will favour mobile rucks, this is not as "out there" as you might think on first look.

STRENGTHS:

  • Athleticism
  • Competitiveness
  • Dexterity
  • Upside

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Rawness
  • Strength

Ahead of what looms as a real 'diamonds in the rough' sort of draft, Marcus Krasnadamskis has emerged as a rising ruck star. The 201cm basketball convert put a potential college career behind him to make the permanent switch to footy. He was initially cut by Eastern Ranges to start the year, but found his way back and ended up a premiership player after fully committing.

Upside is the word that springs to mind when discussing Krasnadamskis. With such little exposure to the footballing pathway, he has shown plenty to suggest he'll be among the crop's best rucks - should he continue to develop so rapidly. He's a terrific athlete and proved as much at the state draft combine with several top 10 finishes, including for his 2.887-second 20m sprint.

That kind of mobility lends to his dextrous work at ground level, with Krasnadamskis quite comfortable and skilful with ball in hand. He has a healthy level of competitiveness and loves to get stuck into contests, but can continue to build strength to play that way against senior opposition. Endurance is another element he will need to boost before hitting the big time.

captainMyCaptain . you're up next for the GWS pick.

Pick #30 - Bulldogs bid on Harry Kyle: 370 points required to match.

Sydney matched with pick #31, 429 points covering the requirement, with 59 points residual, returning pick #51.

I will fix up the later draft order once I can get to my computer with the spreadsheet.
